Why Starbridge

At Starbridge, we partner with people with disabilities, their families, and the people who support them to build communities where everyone belongs. We are For the Hope and the How: the hope that life can change for the better, and the know-how to make it happen.
As a Registered Nurse at Starbridge, you’ll provide compassionate, person-centered nursing care that supports the health, safety, and well-being of people with disabilities. You’ll work closely with individuals, families, caregivers, and a collaborative team to assess health needs, coordinate care, provide education, and promote independence. Your expertise will help ensure people receive high-quality care while being treated with dignity, respect, and understanding.

What You'll Do
  • Provide nursing care, clinical oversight, and advocacy to individuals receiving services in Starbridge residential programs.
  • Assess medical and nursing needs, complete annual assessments, and develop and maintain Plans of Nursing Services.
  • Participate in intake and discharge processes, reviewing medical information and developing plans to address identified needs.
  • Coordinate with physicians, healthcare providers, program managers, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure quality, person-centered care.
  • Review medical records, medication documentation, and medication regimens to ensure accuracy, appropriate follow-up, and compliance.
  • Provide training and ongoing support to residential staff on medications, medical procedures, health concerns, therapies, and adaptive equipment.
  • Ensure necessary medical supplies and equipment are available and support staff in following nursing procedures and OPWDD requirements.
  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and support compliance with agency policies, OPWDD regulations, and quality standards.
  • Serve as a clinical resource and advocate while building positive relationships with individuals, families, staff, and healthcare providers. Serve as a member of the agency's leadership team, contributing to organizational strategy and decision-making.
What You'll Bring
  • A current New York State Registered Nurse (R.N.) license and at least two years of post-licensure nursing experience.
  • Experience working with people with developmental disabilities is preferred.
  • Experience in an OPWDD-funded program is preferred.
  • Strong clinical assessment, nursing, documentation, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with diverse individuals and teams.
  • The ability to work independently, prioritize responsibilities, and exercise sound clinical judgment.
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • A commitment to person-centered care and the ability to interact respectfully with people from a variety of cultures and backgrounds.
  • A valid New York State driver’s license insured and registered vehicle, and the ability to travel between program locations and work a flexible schedule.
Why You'll Love Working Here
  • Generous paid time off that grows with your years of service.
  • Employer-paid life insurance worth two times your salary.
  • Health, dental, and vision coverage, with Starbridge helping cover the cost.
  • A retirement plan you can start right away, with a 4% Starbridge match after one year.
  • Opportunities to lead meaningful initiatives that strengthen families and communities across New York State.
  • A collaborative leadership team committed to innovation, inclusion, and continuous improvement.
