Job description

Job Summary:
Syntricate Technologies is seeking a Software Test Developer to join their team that develops test automation frameworks for educational technology solutions. The role involves participating in the entire automation framework development lifecycle and mentoring stakeholders in automation tools.
Responsibilities:
• Actively participate in all stages of automation framework development lifecycle, including planning, requirements definition, design, implementation, test, documentation and maintenance
• Learn and understand automation team priorities and how these relate to the larger organization's overall priorities
• Learn and understand the needs of the team’s internal customers; ensure that the automation solutions provided meet their immediate goals
• Identify and communicate the choices and risks for different design solutions of automation features; document and communicate dependencies and assumptions
• Train and mentor stakeholders in the use of tools and automation frameworks
• Look for new opportunities to utilize software development best practices including continuous testing, utilizing virtual machines, using design patterns and increasing unit test coverage of automation frameworks and libraries
• Review implemented code and proposed designs from other team members with maintainable, effective and efficient solutions as the goal
• Set development strategies and processes/procedures to continue improving the development practices on the team
• Find new and innovative approaches to test automation; continually evolve the solution to maximize maintainability, efficiency and accessibility of the toolchain
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor of Science (BS) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related field
• 5 years of professional experience as a software engineer designing, developing and maintaining software, including at least 2 years of experience as a software engineer in test automation
• Advanced programming expertise in Java or Python, preferably both
• Experience with source control tools and processes in an environment where multiple software developers contribute and review code changes
• Strong interest and experience in software testing, including but not limited to unit testing and API testing
• Ability to review and contribute to technical documentation, including requirements specifications and design documents
• Ability to quickly become proficient with various tools, including test management systems, test automation frameworks and project management and bug tracking systems
Preferred:
• Experience and comfort in working on both PC and Mac
• Experience working within an Agile environment
• Experience with keyword-driven test automation
• Excellent collaboration skills for working in a cross-functional, multi-site team environment
• Critical thinker, analytical, problem solver, curious, persistent and meticulous
• Aptitude for finding, reproducing and debugging system defects
• Knowledge of industry-standard software test approaches
