Job description

Bandit Running is a pioneering technical performance brand committed to creating innovative, high-quality apparel & gear for goal-driven runners. Our mission to “Evolve Running” guides everything we do, always putting the needs of the global running community first. As the fastest-growing brand in the sport, we challenge conventional brand-building norms, prioritizing an extremely high-bar for disruptive excellence across product, experiences & content. Our vision is to build an enduring, iconic brand that breaks down barriers & inspires greater passion & participation in the sport we love.

As we expand into new terrain with Cityscape—our trail-inspired concept bridging the gap between the concrete and the climb—we’re seeking a Trail & Performance Lifestyle Designer to define the aesthetic and technical identity of this space. This role is about designing apparel that thrives in the extremes: from the harshest city conditions to the most unforgiving trails. You’ll translate performance functionality into refined, modern silhouettes that feel as at home in Brooklyn as they do on backcountry switchbacks. This is for the runner who moves seamlessly between both worlds—demanding gear that performs relentlessly and looks effortlessly composed.

Requirements

Design & Creative Development

  • Lead seasonal design across Cityscape, crafting product that blurs boundaries between urban performance and outdoor utility.
  • Translate cultural, architectural, and environmental cues into design language—where texture, proportion, and material express both story and purpose.
  • Create detailed sketches, 3D/digital renderings, and full tech packs that communicate silhouette, construction, and finish with precision.
  • Partner with the Chief Design Officer to evolve concept direction, ensuring each piece aligns with Bandit’s broader design language.

Product Strategy & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Build a deep understanding of both the performance and outdoor markets—identifying opportunities where trail tech meets urban sensibility.
  • Source and apply advanced materials, trims, and finishes that balance technical performance with refined aesthetic.
  • Collaborate with Product Development, Tech Design, and Sourcing through prototype rounds, fittings, and production.
  • Contribute to seasonal line architecture and internal/wholesale presentations, ensuring design intent carries through every stage.
What We're Looking For
  • 4–6+ years of experience in apparel design, ideally within activewear, outdoor, or performance lifestyle categories.
  • Strong grasp of construction, performance textiles, and functional detailing.
  • Proven experience designing hybrid apparel—built for movement, refined for everyday wear.
  • Exceptional technical and hand sketching skills; expert in Adobe Illustrator and digital design tools.
  • Detail-oriented and fluent in building tech packs, BOMs, and guiding samples through development cycles.
  • Elevated design sensibility with a strong eye for proportion, color, and material storytelling.
  • Personal connection to trail running, outdoor sport, or exploration culture is a major plus.
  • Passionate about shaping the evolution of running—where performance, culture, and style converge.

Benefits

  • This is a full-time, in-office role based in our Greenpoint, Brooklyn headquarters
  • Competitive base salary + equity
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits and flexible PTO
  • Rocket-ship level momentum with a career-defining opportunity at-hand

At Bandit, we’re building an incredible culture rooted in our three core values—Trust, Empathy, & Excellence. We believe that in order to build the best team, our baseline is an environment where everyone can bring their full & authentic selves to the table. We are committed to fair hiring practices where we hire team members for their potential & advocate for diversity, equity, & inclusion. We do not discriminate based on your race, color, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, age, military service eligibility, veteran status, marital status, disability, or any other protected class.

Salary: $125,000-$150,000 + equity.
