Job description

Electrical Consultants, Inc. (ECI), a leading power engineering consultant firm, is seeking a motivated individual to join our San Diego or Ontario, CA office as a designer. ECI specializes in engineering services to electric utilities (substation, protection, transmission) alternative energy systems, communication, oil/gas, mining and heavy industry. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and physical design work for electrical substations ranging from 12 kV to 500 kV.

Responsibilities will include but are not limited to performing substation electrical and physical design work and, when required, drafting for assigned projects; support other projects as required; resolution of AutoCAD software operating issues; establishing AutoCAD environments per client requirements.

Minimum Requirements: College degree or two-year technical certificate in computer-aided drafting/design and a minimum of 15 years of computer-aided drafting and designer experience required. The successful candidate must possess advanced computer skills and be an expert in the use, operation and maintenance of AutoCAD. A sound operating knowledge of MicroStation is preferred. Must have proven effective verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate must be results oriented and capable of completing design assignments with minimal direction and must be effective in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills and have the ability to interface with team members and clients. This position requires a strong work ethic with attention to detail, quality, schedule and budget. Occasional travel/driving may be required. Successful applicant is subject to ECI's auto insurance carrier requirements. Applicants must not require sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H-1B visa status) now or in the future.

Compensation Range: $70,000 - $122,000 Annually
