Job Description SummaryThe Military DoD SkillBridge program is an opportunity for Service members to gain valuable civilian work experience through specific industry training, apprenticeships, or internships during the last 180 days of service. SkillBridge connects Service members with industry partners in real-world job experiences under Dept. of Defense Instruction 1322.29. Separating Service members can be granted up to 180 days of permissive duty to focus solely on training full-time with approved industry partners after unit commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) provides written authorization and approval. GE Aerospace as a Skill Bridge partner offers real-world training and work experience in in-demand fields of work while having the opportunity to evaluate the Service member's suitability for the work. Military DoD SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from GE Aerospace, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.Job Description

We are seeking an Powerplant Certified Technician located in Durham, NC. You may have the opportunity to interview for full time placement after SkillBridge. For a permanent position, you must complete SkillBridge and be eligible for full time employment by September 2026.

Essential Functions (including physical and environmental tasks required to perform job):

  • Assemble jet engines, including performing various machining and repair operations, using hand tools, specialized tools, equipment and fixtures.
  • Function in a team-based environment.
  • Work from complex product drawings, manuals, specifications and other company/customer specifications.
  • Set-up, operate and adjust all tools and equipment used in the assembly processes.
  • Perform inspections required to assure that the quality plan is achieved.

Required Qualifications

  • Active Military personnel on their last 180 days before separating from Military Service.

  • Powerplant Certification or posses the FAA 8610-2 form and ability to obtain Powerplant License prior to SkillBridge start

  • Available for full time employment by August 2026
