Job description

A septic service technician maintains, repairs, and installs septic systems. This includes tasks like pumping tanks, cleaning lines, and inspecting components. They also handle customer communication, ensuring systems function correctly and safely.

Key Responsibilities:

  • System Maintenance and Repair: Pumping septic tanks, cleaning sewer lines, and inspecting components like baffles and ventilation systems.
  • Troubleshooting and Diagnostics: Identifying and resolving issues with septic systems, often involving digging to access tanks and lines.
  • Installation and Replacement: Assisting in the installation or replacing damaged components like risers, sewer lines, or tanks.
  • Equipment Operation: Utilizing tools and equipment like vacuum trucks, jetting machines, and pumps. Always drive any vehicle in a safe manner.
  • Customer Service: Communicating with customers about system maintenance, repairs, and proper usage to ensure optimal performance. Create invoices for all work accomplished, email clients, and accept payments on work done.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety regulations and procedures, including OSHA standards, to ensure a safe working environment.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Availability: Full-time. Average 45-50 hours per week. Possible evening, night, or weekend work as needed. Also, must be available for occasional emergency work.
  • Physical Stamina: The ability to perform manual labor, lift heavy objects, and work outdoors in various weather conditions. Ability to lift and carry a minimum of 40-50 lbs.
  • Fast-paced Environment: Able to adapt to quickly changing job requirements and think quickly on your feet to accomplish tasks quickly and accurately.
  • Mechanical Aptitude: A knack for understanding mechanical systems and troubleshooting issues.
  • Customer Service Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with clients. Fluent in Spanish and English a plus.
