Job description

Trigon Cyber is seeking a talented and motivated Mid-Level Software Engineer to join our growing team. In this role, you will design, develop, test, and maintain innovative software solutions that support critical aerospace and defense programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about solving complex technical challenges, enjoys working in a collaborative engineering environment, and is capable of contributing throughout the entire software development lifecycle—from requirements analysis and system design to implementation, testing, deployment, and sustainment. This position is primarily office- or laboratory-based, with occasional travel (up to 25%) to customer sites, integration laboratories, or test locations as required.

Primary Responsibilities

Software Design & Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain high-quality software applications supporting aerospace and defense systems.

Software Engineering Lifecycle: Participate in all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), including requirements analysis, architecture and design, implementation, integration, testing, deployment, and maintenance.

Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with systems, software, hardware, integration, and test engineers to ensure seamless integration of software components and successful system performance.

Quality & Review: Conduct software design reviews and peer code reviews. Provide constructive technical feedback while promoting coding standards, quality assurance, and best practices.

Testing & Validation: Develop and execute unit, integration, and system tests. Utilize automated testing frameworks and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to validate software functionality and improve software quality.

Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution: Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects and performance issues.

Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation supporting software design, development, testing, configuration management, and system integration.

Continuous Improvement: Contribute to process improvements, software engineering best practices, and development standards that enhance product quality, efficiency, and maintainability. Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and software engineering practices


Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum of three (3) years of professional software development experience
  • Proficiency in one or more programming languages, including: C++, Java, C#, Python, or other object-oriented programming languages
  • Experience with software development methodologies and lifecycle 
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills 
  • Experience working with Linux Operating Systems
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities
  • Familiar with version control systems and CI/CD
  • Experience with debugging and testing


Desired Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
  •  Experience with Future Airborne Capability Environment (FACE) or other
  • Modular Open Systems Architecture (MOSA) development 
  • Experience with UML Diagrams and Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience with Agile software development
