Job description

CHILD AND FAMILY SERVICES CASEWORKER
EDUCATION
High School Diploma Required. Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or in a child related or social services field preferred
EXPERIENCE
One year experience working directly with children in a child-related field with degree;
OR
Five years' experience working directly with children in a child-related field with some college;
OR
Seven to ten years' experience working directly with children in a child-related field.
SUPERVISORY REQUIREMENTS
None
JOB STATUS
Full time; Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have the ability to work with persons from various ethnic backgrounds, with particular emphasis in working with families of African American heritage

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Expected caseload is approximately 15-17 cases - PLEASE NOTE THAT ACTUAL CASELOAD WILL VARY ACCORDING TO AGENCY NEED
  • Provide a full range of emergency/temporary care service to parents and children (which includes training, crisis intervention services, placement and monitoring, and transporting)
  • Work on-call hours as directed
  • Interface with all providers for the purpose of planning meetings;
  • Prepare monthly progress reports and other reports that are required by Allegheny County Children and Youth Services, DPW and this agency
  • Adhere to all other program and agency policies and procedures governing the objective of the agency and program
This position requires a flexible work schedule to include evenings and weekends
REQUIREMENTS
  • Registered and insured vehicle
  • Certificate of Insurance for vehicle
  • Valid Pennsylvania Driver's License
  • City/County travel
  • Current Act 33 and Police Clearances
  • Available to work flexible schedule
  • Carry cell phone
  • On Call
