Job description

Position Summary

Lincoln Leadership Academy Charter School is seeking a dependable, safety-conscious, and student-focused Full-Time School Bus Driver to safely transport students to and from school and school-sponsored activities.

The School Bus Driver is responsible for operating a school bus in a safe and professional manner, maintaining a positive and respectful environment for students, following assigned routes and schedules, and complying with applicable Pennsylvania Department of Education, PennDOT, and school transportation requirements.

This is a 40-hour-per-week position.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Safely transport students to and from school, field trips, athletic events, and other school-sponsored activities.

Operate the school bus in compliance with applicable Pennsylvania laws, regulations, and Lincoln Leadership Academy policies.

Follow assigned routes, schedules, and transportation procedures.

Conduct required pre-trip and post-trip inspections.

Report mechanical issues, safety concerns, accidents, and incidents promptly.

Maintain a clean, safe, and orderly school bus.

Monitor student behavior and maintain a safe, respectful, and positive environment.

Assist students with safely boarding and exiting the bus when necessary.

Maintain confidentiality regarding students and school-related matters.

Complete required transportation logs, inspection reports, mileage records, and other documentation.

Communicate effectively with school administration and transportation personnel regarding delays, route issues, student concerns, and emergencies.

Participate in required safety training and professional development.

Perform other transportation-related duties as assigned by school administration.

Minimum Qualifications

Must meet applicable Pennsylvania requirements for employment as a school bus driver.

Valid Pennsylvania Class B Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with required Passenger (P) and School Bus endorsements, or ability to obtain all required credentials.

Appropriate air-brake qualification, as applicable.

Acceptable driving record.

Ability to successfully complete all required Pennsylvania school bus driver training, testing, physical examinations, and certifications.

Successful completion of all required criminal history, child abuse, and FBI clearances.

Ability to communicate effectively with students, families, staff, and school administration.

Demonstrated reliability, punctuality, patience, and professionalism.

Previous school bus driving or pupil transportation experience preferred.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time, 40-hour-per-week position.

The workweek may include:Morning student transportation routes

Afternoon student transportation routes

Midday transportation assignments

Field trips and educational activities

Athletic and extracurricular transportation

Required bus inspections

Transportation documentation and administrative duties

Other school-related transportation responsibilities
