Press Break Operator 2nd shift: Monday-Thursday, 3:00pm-1:30am ( Friday's as needed)
Summit Products is looking for a Laser Operator. A Press Brake Operator is responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining press brake machines to bend, shape, cut, and manipulate sheet metal and metal plates according to blueprints, work orders, and production schedules. This role is vital in manufacturing environments for producing high-quality, precision metal components and assemblies.
Summit Products supplies products to a unique/niche market in the RV industry as well as custom products to the local area. Summit's smaller size and growing business make it the perfect opportunity to advance your career and hone your skills.
Responsibilities for a Laser Operator:
  • Set up and operate press brake machines to bend and shape metal plates and sheets.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, work orders, and production schedules to determine job requirements.
  • Prepare, set up, and adjust press brake machinery, including selecting and installing appropriate tooling and dies.
  • Ensure sufficient raw materials are available for production and measure/alignment of materials prior to operation.
  • Program CNC press brakes as needed, including entering specifications and performing test bends to verify accuracy.
  • Operate the press brake to manufacture parts, tools, equipment, and other components, ensuring compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Inspect finished products for accuracy, quality, and conformance to specifications using calipers, gauges, and tape measures.
  • Perform routine maintenance and minor repairs on press brake equipment to ensure optimal operation.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, adhering to safety and housekeeping standards.
  • Maintain a positive attitude
  • Document production activities and maintain required records.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively with supervisors and other departments

Required Skills and Abilities
  • Proficiency in operating press brake controls and CNC software.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and work instructions.
  • Strong math and measurement skills for calculating settings and verifying part dimensions.
  • Mechanical aptitude and understanding of metal properties and press brake mechanics.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to quality assurance.
  • Physical ability to stand for prolonged periods, lift up to 25-75 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Good hand-eye coordination and manual dexterity.
  • Computer skills for programming and documentation.
  • Adherence to safety protocols and use of required personal protective equipment (PPE).
