Description

The Metro Atlanta office of Larson Engineering, Inc. is seeking a mechanical design engineer to assist with mechanical, process, and piping designs. The position will require a growth orientated individual to cover a wide variety of engineering skills relating to heavy industrial projects that deal with overall plant design from the initial concept through construction. Specific tasks may include developing site layouts, equipment layouts, process & instrumentation diagrams, equipment specifications, cost estimating, bid assistance, construction assistance, etc. Position will work directly with multiple disciplines allowing the engineer to develop skills for many aspects of various projects. The position will eventually require direct contact with clients and vendors to meet necessary project goals. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, driven, and have a growth-orientated personality with a willingness to address all aspects of varying industrial projects.

Specific Responsibilities include:

  • Perform of process calculations, finite element analysis, pipe & pump sizing, HVAC sizing, pressure drop calculations, etc.
  • Creation of equipment, project, and material specifications.
  • Utilization of AutoCAD and other 3D design programs to produce construction documents.
  • Performing field verifications of new designs and existing environments.
  • Collecting existing information and interpreting data.
  • Creation of reports, project summaries and recommendations.
  • Develop projects from initial design concepts through construction.
  • Learning subject matter for specific projects, including technical papers, codes, standards, etc.
  • Participating in company growth and development while assisting others where needed on projects or tasks.
  • Provide onsite construction assistance.
  • Ability to Travel as needed ~10%.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • BSME or BSMET
  • 0-5 years' experience in a design engineering role, preferably with industrial projects
  • PE or EIT with plans to earn a PE.
  • Proficiency in CAD design and design standards
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or other 3D design software
  • Excellent presentation and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent written communications skills
