Townsen Memorial Hospital - West is looking for a full-time Registered Nurse Informaticist to join our team!
Current, active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license issued by the State of Texas required.
Summary: The Registered Nurse Informaticist is responsible for serving as the vital link between clinical care and healthcare technology. This role oversees the development, implementation, optimization, and evaluation of clinical information systems to enhance patient outcomes, streamline workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Partner with clinical and IT teams to optimize Electronic Health Records (EHR) and other health technologies
  • Lead or support system implementations, upgrades, and optimization projects aligned with clinical workflows
  • Provide training and ongoing support to clinical staff on health information systems
  • Analyze clinical data to drive quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Act as a liaison among nursing staff, providers, IT, and administrative departments
  • Conduct testing and validation of clinical systems and software upgrades
  • Develop and maintain documentation, policies, and procedures for clinical system usage
  • Ensure compliance with regulations such as HIPAA, CMS, CHIQ, and Meaningful Use• Monitor user feedback and system performance to identify and recommend improvements
  • Collaborate on the design and customization of clinical decision support tools (e.g., alerts, order sets, protocols)
  • Contribute to change management strategies and stakeholder engagement during system transitions
  • Support data governance initiatives and ensure integrity and standardization of clinical documentation
  • Assist in research projects or grant initiatives involving clinical data or health IT systems

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • In-depth knowledge of Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems (e.g., Epic, Cerner, Meditech) and clinical documentation standards
  • Strong understanding of clinical workflows and hospital operations across care settings
  • Knowledge of healthcare regulatory, privacy, and compliance requirements (e.g., HIPAA, CMS, Joint Commission)
  • Proficiency in interpreting clinical data and applying health information standards (HL7, FHIR, SNOMED, LOINC)
  • Strong clinical reasoning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills with attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written, and presentation skills, including teaching and coaching abilities
  • Strong organization, multitasking, time management, and teamwork skills
  • Flexibility, adaptability, and resilience in dynamic healthcare environments

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Registered Nurse in the State of Texas
  • Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience in an acute care setting
  • Two (2) years of nursing informatics experience, including involvement in EHR system implementation, optimization, or clinical data analysis
