What is a full time RN?

Full Time Registered Nurses (RNs) are licensed healthcare professionals who work a standard full-time schedule, typically 36 to 40 hours per week, providing patient care in various settings such as hospitals, clinics, or long-term care facilities. Their responsibilities include assessing patient conditions, administering medications, coordinating care with doctors and other healthcare staff, and educating patients and their families. Full Time RNs are essential in ensuring high-quality, continuous care and often have access to benefits like health insurance and paid time off due to their employment status.

What are some common challenges full-time registered nurses face, and how can they be managed effectively?

Full-time RNs often encounter challenges such as managing high patient loads, adapting to shift work, and maintaining clear communication during busy or stressful periods. Time management and prioritization skills are crucial for handling multiple tasks efficiently. Many RNs find that collaborating closely with their healthcare team, utilizing available support resources, and practicing self-care are essential strategies for maintaining both job performance and personal well-being.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time RN, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time RN, you need solid clinical knowledge, patient assessment skills, and a valid nursing degree with RN licensure. Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) systems, medication administration procedures, and basic life support (BLS) certification are typically required. Strong communication, empathy, and teamwork skills help RNs build rapport with patients and collaborate effectively with healthcare teams. These abilities are crucial for providing safe, efficient, and compassionate patient care in demanding healthcare environments.

Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Registered Nurse (RN) – Level IV NICU to join the neonatal intensive care team at Swedish First Hill – Providence in Seattle, Washington. This position is specifically designed for an RN with established, post-graduation experience caring for critically ill and medically complex newborns in a Level IV NICU environment.

This is an experienced NICU RN position, not an entry-level opportunity or pathway into neonatal intensive care. Candidates must already possess substantial hands-on NICU nursing experience and be prepared to contribute within a highly specialized Level IV neonatal care environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Graduation from an accredited nursing program
  • Current Washington Registered Nurse (RN) License upon hire
  • Current American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification upon hire
  • Current American Academy of Pediatrics Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification upon hire
  • Minimum 1 year of professional nursing experience
  • Minimum 1 full year of post-graduation RN experience in a NICU
  • Required NICU experience must have been obtained while working as a full-time Registered Nurse
  • Nursing school clinical rotations do not count toward the required NICU experience
  • Residency program experience does not substitute for the required experienced-RN NICU background
Preferred Qualifications
  • 1–2+ years of NICU RN experience
  • Experience caring for critically ill neonates within a high-acuity NICU environment
  • Strong neonatal assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical decision-making skills
  • Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary neonatal and maternal care teams
Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has at least one full year of post-graduation, full-time RN experience specifically within a Level IV NICU. Candidates without NICU experience will not be considered for this position.

Experience obtained through nursing school clinical rotations does not satisfy the one-year requirement. Candidates should already be comfortable functioning independently as an experienced NICU RN and caring for critically ill and medically complex neonatal patients in a Level IV setting.

Compensation

$80,000 – $156,000 annually

Eligible external candidates may also qualify for a $15,000 hiring bonus, subject to meeting all applicable conditions for payment.

Why Join Through Tap Healthcare Solutions?

At Tap Healthcare Solutions, we understand the level of specialized knowledge and clinical judgment required to build a career in neonatal intensive care. For an experienced Level IV NICU nurse, this opportunity provides the chance to bring that expertise to a highly specialized neonatal environment while continuing to advance professionally.

Our team will work with you throughout the hiring process to ensure your NICU experience, credentials, compensation expectations, and career goals align with the opportunity. We focus on presenting qualified candidates for positions that genuinely match the experience they've worked to build—not simply submitting résumés to openings.
