Description
Jackson Parish Hospital is currently seeking a full-time RN to work in the Emergency Department. This position comes with a full benefit package including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short and long-term disability, retirement, Accrued Time Off, 8 paid holidays, and other supplemental plans.
The Registered Nurse (RN) assesses, plans, implements, evaluates, and provides nursing care to assigned patients utilizing the nursing process to facilitate the patient's progression toward optimal health.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/ RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assess needs of patients in basic and complex situations, identifies potential or actual needs, and communicates changes in patient status, needs, or condition to the supervisor and physician when applicable. Documents the assessment.
  • Plans the care of patients and their families in response to identified needs, throughout the continuum of care.
  • Responsible for direct supervision and delegation of those members of the healthcare team including but not limited to: LPN/LVN's, CNA's, Unit Clerks (Ward Clerks).
  • Administration of intravenous medications, drips, pushes, blood administration as per scope of practice.
  • Facilitates the identification and resolution of patient's admission, transfer, and discharge needs throughout the course of care.
  • Maintains and ensures patient confidentiality at all times.
  • Communicate with Charge Nurse/Nursing Supervisor and DON on changing patient needs.
  • Act as a patient advocate as circumstances require, by initiating actions to improve care or to change decisions or activities which are against the interest or wished of the patient, and by giving the patient the opportunity to make informed decisions about healthcare before it is provided.
  • Perform any other task as assigned to by Director of Nursing.
  • Reports to work on time and as scheduled; completes work within designated time frames.
  • Attends staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
  • Represents the organization in a positive and professional manner.
  • Adheres to JPH policies and procedures.

Requirements
EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Graduate of an approved Registered Nurse program is required. Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 2 years of related work experience preferred.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATIONS
  • Current Registered Nurse license in the state of Louisiana.
  • Current BLS certification is required upon hire.
  • ACLS and PALs certification is required within 6 months of hire.

LANGUAGE and PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS:
  • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.

SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to work alone or with minimal supervision.
  • Professional/Courteous rapport with patients, families, co-workers, physicians, and visitors.
  • Ability to work under and handle stress in an appropriate manner.
  • Ability to work long hours between breaks and meals, if necessary.
  • Basic computer competency.

MACHINERY/TOOLS/EQUIPMENT REQUIREMENTS:
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot nursing department equipment, nursing call system, telephone, fax machine, copy machine, computer, and printer/scanner.
