What does a full time Revit professional do?

A Full Time Revit professional specializes in using Autodesk Revit software to create detailed 3D models and technical drawings for architecture, engineering, or construction projects. Their responsibilities often include designing building components, collaborating with project teams, and ensuring that digital models meet both client and regulatory requirements. They may also coordinate with other disciplines, manage documentation, and help streamline the workflow from concept through construction using Building Information Modeling (BIM) principles.

What are some common challenges faced by full time Revit professionals, and how can they be addressed?

Full Time Revit professionals often encounter challenges such as managing large, complex building models, ensuring coordination with other disciplines, and keeping up with software updates. To address these, it's important to develop strong organization skills, regularly communicate with team members in architecture, engineering, and construction, and participate in ongoing training or user groups. Leveraging Revit's collaboration features and staying proactive about learning new tools can help improve efficiency and reduce errors in project delivery.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time Revit specialist, and why are they important?

Job description

Position Overview

Align is seeking an experienced BIM Revit Specialist with strong experience modeling electrical systems and a proven background supporting large-scale building projects.

This is a hands-on Revit production role focused on building and modifying coordinated models, working across disciplines, and producing construction-ready documentation used by field teams.

The ideal candidate understands how electrical systems are installed in the field and can apply that knowledge when routing and coordinating systems within multi-disciplined BIM environments (architectural, structural, and MEP). Candidates with electrical construction, field installation, or trade backgrounds who have moved into BIM/VDC are strongly encouraged to apply.

Direct data center project experience is strongly preferred. Candidates with strong electrical BIM experience on large-scale commercial, industrial, or mission-critical projects are also encouraged to apply.

This role focuses on modeling electrical systems for complex infrastructure projects, including electrical conduit routing, cable tray layouts, power distribution layouts, and related construction documentation.

  • This role is based out of our Sterling office
  • This is a full-time, salaried position offering $110,000 - $140,000 commensurate with experience, full benefits, PTO, training, and performance-based bonuses.

Key Qualifications

  • 4+ years of professional Revit modeling experience supporting large-scale building projects
  • Experience modeling electrical systems such as conduit routing, cable tray, or power distribution
  • Experience with or exposure to data center/white space environments
  • Experience working in multi-discipline BIM environments (architectural, structural, MEP)
  • Experience working in shared Revit models (work-sharing)
  • Strong model troubleshooting and coordination skills
  • Experience with quality control and revision tracking in production environments
  • Ability to interpret markups and execute design intent
  • Strong communication skills across project teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct data center project experience strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with power distribution layouts and one-line diagrams
  • Experience with Navisworks or similar clash detection tools
  • AutoCAD familiarity
  • Experience with constructability-driven modeling or prefab workflows
  • Field or electrical construction experience

Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Revit models for electrical systems on complex projects
  • Produce coordinated shop drawings and installation deliverables
  • Update models based on design and coordination changes
  • Identify and help resolve coordination issues with other trades
  • Work closely with architectural, structural, and MEP teams
  • Contribute to drafting standards and workflow consistency
  • Support design reviews and overall project execution
  • Model conduit routing, cable tray layouts, and power distribution systems with constructability in mind

To support a fair, consistent, and high-quality hiring experience, some interviews may be recorded. These recordings help our team focus fully on the conversation at hand, rather than note-taking, and allow us to better evaluate and improve our recruitment process. Recordings are used solely for internal purposes such as training, quality assurance, and process improvement. Candidates will be informed in advance and asked to provide consent before any recording takes place.
