Position Overviewย
Replications, Inc. is seeking a Director of Social Work to support the social-emotional and mental health needs of students and families across our DYCD COMPASS and SONYC after-school programs and Community Schools throughout New York City. The Director of Socialย workย will work closely with Program Directors, Community School Directors, Support Staff, School leadership teams, Guidance Counselors, and community-based partners to strengthen student support systems and staff training. This role willย be responsible forย helping create safe, supportive, and trauma-informed environments for students and families. Additionally, the Director of Social Work will oversee and support Replicationsโ Social Work Internship Program, including university partnerships, field placements, andย supervisionย coordination for social work interns across school-based programs. This role reports directly to the Chief Program Officer.ย
Keyย Responsibilitiesย
DYCD / COMPASS Responsibilitiesย
- Lead mental health and wellness initiatives across DYCD COMPASS and SONYC programs in alignment with DYCD standards and organizational expectations.ย
- Implement SEL and restorative practice strategies across after-school programming to strengthen student engagement and well-being.ย
- Develop and oversee Crisis Navigation Plans, Mental Health Referral Plans, and student support protocols required by DYCD.ย
- Ensure staff understand crisis response procedures, referral pathways, escalation protocols, mandated reporting requirements, and behavioral intervention practices.ย
- Provide coaching and technicalย assistanceย on de-escalation, restorative approaches, crisis intervention, and support students with behavioral and emotional needs.ย
- Facilitate professional development on trauma-informed care, youth mental health, restorative practices, SEL implementation, and crisis response.ย
- Ensure completion and documentation of all DYCD-required mental health and wellness trainings for compliance.ย
- Track andย monitorย de-identified referral, intervention, and support service dataย in accordance withย DYCD reporting requirements.ย
- Support DYCD monitoring visits, audits, compliance reviews, and reporting related to mental health and student support services.ย
Community Schools Responsibilitiesย
- Promote trauma-informed, safe, and inclusive school environments that support student well-being, positive youth development, and social-emotional growth.ย
- Implement SEL and restorative practice initiatives within Community Schools programming.ย
- Respond to school-based crises, including mental health emergencies, grief and loss, trauma-related incidents, behavioral escalations, and family crises.ย
- Build andย maintainย partnerships with mental health providers, behavioral health agencies, and community organizations to expand student and family support.ย
- Coordinate intervention planning, case management, wraparound services, and resource referrals for students and families.ย
- Maintainย accurateย documentation of referrals, crisis plans, interventions, and student support services.ย
Combined Responsibilitiesย
- Prepare reports, updates, and presentations for senior leadership on student support trends, mental health initiatives, and program implementation.ย
- Lead the Social Work Internship Program, including recruitment, onboarding,ย supervisionย coordination, university partnerships, and professional development.ย
Qualificationsย
- Minimum of five (5) years of experience in school-based, youth development, after-school, community school, or mental health settingsย required.ย
- Strong knowledge of trauma-informed practices, crisis intervention, social-emotional learning, and community-based support systems, with the ability to build relationships with students, families, school staff, and community partners.ย
- Experience in school-based youth development, mental health supports, and NYC public school or after-school environmentsย
- LMSW, LCSW,ย SIFI certification required or willingness to obtain certification.ย
