Job description

Here at Tutored by Teachers (TbT), our mission is to advance equity in education. We seek to close the opportunity and achievement gaps by supporting high needs students through virtual academic support. In the process, we empower our nation's teachers to express their full potential by tutoring students and supporting their peers in the classroom.
The Role:
The sales development representative's primary role is to focus on outreach, prospecting, and lead qualification of schools, districts, and charter networks. The SDR will connect with as many leads as possible and determine if they're good customer fits.
The SDR will move leads through the sales pipeline while learning about a potential school leader's instructional needs. If a prospect is a good fit, the SDR will schedule a next step with account executives in the organization. In addition, the SDR will educate, answer questions, and send resources to potential customers.
We are looking for a self-starter with strong customer service and interpersonal skills to join our team in a fast-paced and creative environment.
The position is fully remote and contract. There is a path to full-time employment in success.

  • Research accounts, find leads, nurture responses, and generate interest with important stakeholders after cold and warm outreach
  • Drive top-of-the-funnel lead generation for account executives
  • Talk to prospective clients on the phone or on video calls
  • Proactively search for new, innovative ways to build and grow the business
  • Create scalable processes for the SDR role
  • Enter, maintain and track sales data/activities in the sales database
  • Measure and report out on key metrics of success

  • Energetic; an upbeat attitude goes a long way
  • Empathetic; you connect well with other people and understand the customer's pain points
  • Entrepreneurial; you're willing to do whatever it takes to get the job done
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, gifted at asking clarifying questions
  • Experience at an education organization focused in the K-12 space
  • High EQ, hustle, a can-do attitude, bias to action, ability to work effectively on a small team and wear many hats and intrinsic motivation to meet / surpass self-created goals
  • Computer savvy with business basics (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and have experience with or be willing to learn new applications such as event management and email distribution applications (a2z, Salesforce and NetForum).
  • Commitment to educational equity

Bonus points for:
  • Experience as a sales development representative or similar role
  • Being an educator in a previous role
