Position Overview

New Path Counseling Services is actively seeking a dedicated and empathetic Licensed Mental Health Therapist to join our team in a full-time remote capacity. This role is essential in providing specialized mental health care to individuals dealing with the complexities of trauma, including but not limited to post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, and dissociative disorders. Our outpatient community health clinic in Reno, Nevada is designed to offer accessible mental health care tailored to the unique needs of our diverse patient population.

Work Environment

This position is remote, allowing you the flexibility to work from home while maintaining a consistent schedule. As a full-time therapist, you will work Monday through Friday, from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with some scheduling flexibility to accommodate patient needs. Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive trauma-informed mental health assessments to gain insight into patients' trauma histories.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans that focus on trauma recovery and resilience-building, using evidence-based methodologies.
  • Administer therapeutic interventions, including techniques such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Trauma-Focused Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT).
  • Facilitate both individual and group therapy sessions, guiding patients in processing their trauma and cultivating effective coping strategies.
  • Work in collaboration with psychiatrists and other healthcare professionals to ensure a thorough and coordinated approach to patient care.
  • Provide immediate crisis intervention and support during trauma-related emergencies, employing de-escalation techniques as necessary.
  • Educate patients and their families on trauma responses, coping mechanisms, and available community resources to support recovery.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential documentation to comply with all legal and ethical standards, ensuring effective communication of care plans.
  • Participate in team meetings, case consultations, and continuous professional development, focusing on the latest advancements in trauma-informed care.
Patient Population / Client Focus

You will be working primarily with patients who have experienced various forms of trauma, including but not limited to abuse, neglect, and other traumatic events. Your expertise will be invaluable as you assist trauma survivors in navigating their recovery journey, offering them the tools they need to achieve emotional stability and resilience.

Qualifications
  • Master's or doctoral degree in Social Work, Marriage and Family Therapy, Mental Health Counseling, or Psychology from an accredited institution.
  • Current and valid licensure as an LMFT, LCPC, or LCSW in the state of Nevada.
  • A minimum of two years of post-licensure experience in a clinical setting is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of trauma-related disorders and trauma-informed treatment modalities.
  • Experience with delivering trauma-focused therapies and interventions to a diverse client base.
  • Strong communication skills, with an emphasis on empathy and a non-judgmental approach to client interactions.
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems and relevant computer applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and maintain professionalism in high-stress situations.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in developing treatment plans that effectively integrate a variety of therapeutic modalities tailored to individual client needs.
