Regular working hours are Monday through Friday, allowing for predictable scheduling.

As a Mental Health Counselor, your primary duties will include:

• Conducting thorough assessments of patients' mental health, focusing on emotional and psychological factors associated with weight management and eating disorders.
• Utilizing standardized assessment tools to identify mental health issues and aid in the development of tailored treatment plans.
• Facilitating individual counseling sessions that address not just the physical aspects of obesity but also emotional and psychological concerns that hamper effective weight control.
• Crafting personalized treatment programs that reflect each patient's unique requirements and therapeutic goals.
• Educating patients about the psychological influences of weight management, including body image issues, self-esteem, stress management techniques, and coping strategies.
• Applying evidence-based therapeutic approaches, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), dialectical behavior therapy (DBT), and motivational interviewing, to foster long-lasting behavioral changes.
• Leading or co-facilitating group therapy sessions focused on weight management to allow patients to share their experiences and support one another.
• Collaborating closely with multidisciplinary team members, including doctors, nutritionists, and physical therapists, to deliver cohesive treatment plans that address both the mental and physical aspects of health.
• Regularly assessing patient progress and meticulously documenting findings and treatment modifications in the EPIC electronic medical records system.
• Staying updated on current trends and protocols in mental health and weight management through ongoing professional education and training opportunities.
• Upholding the highest ethical standards of confidentiality and patient care while fostering a positive team culture.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for supporting individuals experiencing obesity and related eating disorders like binge eating. You will work directly with a diverse patient population, helping them navigate the emotional barriers that may impact their relationship with food and body image.

• A Bachelor’s degree in mental health counseling or a related field is required.
• An unrestricted LMHC license to practice in the State of Washington is mandatory.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, enabling effective dialogue with patients and colleagues.
• The ability to occasionally lift and move up to 15 lbs may be required based on the needs of the role.
• Vision abilities including close vision, distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus will support your counseling tasks.

A strong interest or previous experience in obesity management, eating disorders, or related clinical areas would be advantageous. Familiarity with telehealth technologies and electronic medical record systems, particularly EPIC, is preferred.

This role offers a competitive salary range of USD 90,000 – 105,000 per year, along with comprehensive benefits. Eligible candidates may also have access to loan repayment programs, long-term disability coverage, and opportunities for continuing education.
