Job description

Paired is an overseas staffing agency that connects top talent to remote opportunities with employers in the U.S. and beyond. We believe great jobs shouldn't be limited by location, and we're here to help you find remote roles that match your skills and career goals.
About Our Clients
Our client is a fast-growing DTC brand that designs brand creating CE Level 2 certified protective apparel for mountain biking, motocross, and snow sports. Their mission is to build protective gear that looks like everyday clothing while delivering serious protection when it matters most.
They are looking for a hands-on Head of Finance to build and own the company's finance function, providing leadership with a real-time view of cash flow, profitability, inventory, financing, and overall financial health.
This is a full-time role and you will work directly with the founders and own the finance function end to end-from daily cash management and month-end close to forecasting, financing, payroll, tax, and investor readiness.
Responsibilities
  • Build and maintain daily finance dashboards and live cash flow models covering revenue, spend, cash position, contribution margin, PO schedules, debt, and advertising spend.
  • Own company-level and channel-level P&Ls, ensuring costs such as manufacturing, freight, fulfillment, creators, contractors, and operating expenses are accurately categorized and reported.
  • Manage the month-end close process in QuickBooks Online and oversee outsourced bookkeeping partners to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Own banking and cash management, including account reconciliation, vendor payments, wires, payment methods, and banking relationships.
  • Manage payroll through Gusto or a similar platform, including employee onboarding, salary adjustments, off-cycle payroll, and worker classification.
  • Source, negotiate, and manage credit facilities and financing options, including bank lines of credit, revenue-based financing, and platform credit facilities.
  • Develop financial forecasts and scenarios to support inventory purchasing, advertising spend, financing decisions, and working capital planning.
  • Partner closely with operations and supply chain teams to model PO deposits, supplier payment terms, freight costs, landed COGS, inventory purchases, and product margins.
  • Manage sales tax, contractor invoicing, accrual accounting, and other finance-related compliance requirements, bringing in external specialists when appropriate.
  • Maintain investor- and diligence-ready financial records, projections, and supporting documentation.
  • Provide fast, actionable financial guidance to leadership and respond quickly to urgent cash flow, payment, or financing issues.

Requirements
  • MANDATORY: 5+ years of relevant finance experience, with strong hands-on experience scaling a DTC/ecommerce brand.
  • Proven experience managing finance for a growing ecommerce business, ideally helping scale a brand from approximately $10M-$20M toward $50M+ in revenue or managing finance within a $100M+ operation.
  • Strong understanding of ecommerce unit economics, including contribution margin, MER vs. ROAS, blended CAC, inventory turns, and cash conversion cycle.
  • Hands-on experience with an inventory-heavy ecommerce business involving overseas suppliers, purchase orders, supplier deposits, freight, and landed COGS.
  • Experience managing finance for a U.S. company, including working knowledge of U.S. payroll classifications such as W-2 and W-9/1099 and U.S. sales tax.
  • Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Online and familiarity with platforms such as Shopify, Gusto, payment processors, and DTC financing platforms.
  • Experience managing outsourced bookkeeping teams and holding them accountable to accurate and timely month-end close.
  • Strong financial modeling, forecasting, cash flow management, and scenario-planning skills.
  • Highly hands-on and comfortable owning the work directly rather than delegating critical finance responsibilities.
  • Fast, responsive, and comfortable handling urgent financial issues when required.
  • Available full-time with no other clients or side engagements. Our client must be your sole professional focus.
  • Able to provide at least 5 hours of overlap with 9:00 AM-5:00 PM PST.
  • Fluent and professional English communication skills.
  • Experience preparing a business for fundraising, acquisition, or financial diligence is a plus.

Benefits
  • Competitive USD salary, with flexibility for exceptional candidates.
  • Full-time remote opportunity open to candidates worldwide.
  • Work directly with the founders and have full ownership of the finance function.
  • Opportunity to build and scale the finance infrastructure of a fast-growing, profitable DTC brand.
  • Join a lean, fast-moving team where decisions are made quickly and ideas are implemented without unnecessary bureaucracy.

As part of the selection process, shortlisted candidates will be asked to complete a practical finance exercise based on real-world DTC finance scenarios. This will include demonstrating how you approach financial reporting, cash flow management, forecasting, and decision-making.
Further instructions and requirements will be provided to candidates who advance to this stage.
