What You'll Actually Do

Chevron is hiring Software Engineers at various operating locations across the U.S., including:

  • Houston, TX

We are looking for motivated individuals to deliver innovative digital solutions through design, development, deployment, and support. You will work on key projects and digital innovation initiatives following agile principals, collaborating with product teams to develop reusable software components and services.

Successful candidates will develop digital solutions according to best practices andutilizestandard toolstoensurequalityand maintenance-excelling in modularity, scalability, observability, andintegration.This role provides opportunities to work across multiple areas, including web application development, system, and security design/development.

Software Engineer

Key responsibilities

  • Hands-on coding to deliver functional, innovative software solutions.
  • Utilize CI/CD tooling to deploy software anditeratesolutions.
  • Design and developdataintegration anddatamanagement practices and tools.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the latest tools and practices for continuous integration, unit tests, static and dynamic profiling, code coverage, code analysis, and automated tests.
  • Frequently work withglobalteams across time zones and provide support to application/solutions.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve developer productivity whilemaintainingcode quality, security, and governance standards.
  • ApplyresponsibleAI practices, including validation, testing, security review, and human oversight of AI-generated code and solutions.
  • Leverage AI and automation capabilities to accelerate software delivery and operational excellence.

Application Engineer

Key responsibilities

  • Hands-on development for integrating existing solutions with enterprise ecosystem (e.g., API development, Azure Data Factory)
  • Utilize CI/CD tooling to deploy software and iterate on solutions
  • Design and developdataintegration anddatamanagement practices and tools
  • Understand technical requirements tomaintain& support applications
  • Deploy, configure,supportand enhance vendor software packages
  • Implement secure-by-design andDevSecOpspractices throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Integrate automated security scanning, dependency management,secretsdetection, SAST/DAST testing, and policy compliance into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Develop software consistent with Chevron cybersecurity standards and industry best practices.
  • Utilize AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to improve developer productivity whilemaintainingcode quality, security, and governance standards.
  • ApplyresponsibleAI practices, including validation, testing, security review, and human oversight of AI-generated code and solutions.
  • Leverage AI and automation capabilities to accelerate software delivery and operational excellence.

What You Must Have

The following are required qualifications:

  • Bachelor's ormaster's degree inComputer Science, Computer Engineering, Management Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, Petroleum Engineering, or related fields or equivalent experience
  • Must be currently enrolled in a four-year college or university and classified as a senior or graduate student with anticipation of receiving a bachelor's or master's degree by July 2027; OR college graduates with less than two years' experience since receiving a degree.
  • Must provide a current, unofficial transcript with online resume (as proof of good academic standing) when applying for this position to be considered.

  • C#, .NET, Java, Python, TypeScript, JavaScript, React, Angular, Node.js, SQL, GitHub Actions, Infrastructure as Code (Terraform/Bicep), Kubernetes/OpenShift, Azure Cloud Services, REST APIs,GraphQL, Event-Driven Architectures, and AI-enabled development tools such as GitHub Copilot.
  • Experience with GitHub Enterprise, pull request workflows, branch protection, code reviews, and modern trunk-based or Git-based development practices.
  • Experience with software development lifecycle (plan, design, develop, test, release,maintainand support, decommission)
  • Hands-on experience with Azure Cloud, Service Now, Ansible, and Azure DevOps
  • Demonstrated business negotiation skills, influence, conflict resolution, and resolving technical stalemates

Compensation & Benefits

  • Theanticipatedsalary range for this position is $94,000 - $110,000. The selected candidate's compensation will bedeterminedbased on their respective degree level and discipline.
