Job Purpose:
The Project Estimator / Rebar Detailer is a key customer-facing role responsible for coordinating all customer jobs from initial plan review through quoting, detailing support, fabrication coordination, and job tracking. This role serves as the primary point of contact for customers—reviewing project requirements, answering questions, and ensuring accurate, timely execution of all orders.
 
Working within a retail construction supply environment, this position requires strong attention to detail, the ability to interpret architectural and structural drawings, and working knowledge of rebar detailing practices. The role also includes light Rebar-CAD detailing, coordination with third-party estimators and internal detailers, and management of job tracking and shipment logistics.
Duties & Responsibilities:
 
Estimating & Quoting
  • Review customer-provided plans and specifications to determine project requirements
  • Coordinate with third-party estimating services to obtain material takeoffs and weights
  • Prepare accurate, detailed customer quotes based on drawings, exclusions, and project scope
  • Develop and issue shipment quotes based on job requirements and customer expectations
  • Prepare and manage Statements of Values (SOVs) where required
Customer Coordination
  • Serve as the primary point of contact (“answer person”) for all assigned customer jobs
  • Communicate directly with customers to clarify scope, resolve questions, and confirm requirements
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships through responsive and accurate communication
  • Review project details with customers to ensure alignment prior to fabrication and shipment
Rebar Detailing Support
  • Perform light rebar detailing using Rebar-CAD software
  • Review detail drawings for accuracy and completeness
  • Collaborate with detailers to ensure compliance with project specifications and constructability
Logistics & Order Management
  • Coordinate shipments, often staged or partial, based on weight and job progress
  • Ensure all logistics align with project schedules and customer needs
  • Monitor order flow from estimate through fabrication and delivery
Skills & Qualifications
Required
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word)
Preferred
  • Experience in construction estimating, rebar detailing, or related field preferred
  • Working knowledge of Rebar-CAD software preferred
  • Experience with SOULE software (or similar industry tools) preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans preferred
  • Previous experience in rebar, construction supply, or steel fabrication industry preferred 
  • Familiarity with rebar cage fabrication and installation processes preferred
  • Experience coordinating detailing and fabrication workflows preferred
