Job Title: Special Education Paraeducator at Mountain Sunrise Academy Charter School

Location: Mountain Sunrise Academy

Position Type: Full-Time- 40 hours a week

Low cost health insurance and 7 PTO days a year

About Us: Join our vibrant MSA community, where we are dedicated to fostering a holistic educational environment that nurtures the intellectual, emotional, and spiritual development of our students. We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or Special Education Paraeducator to support our mission of providing individualized and inclusive education to students with special needs in grades kindergarten through 6th.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with teachers and special education staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students with special needs, ensuring their academic and social-emotional success.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of classroom activities that align with Waldorf education principles.
  • Monitor and document student progress, behavior, and performance, maintaining accurate records and reporting to appropriate staff.
  • Utilize positive reinforcement and behavior management techniques to support student learning and development.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect, empathy, and cooperation among all students.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities.

Qualifications:

  • relevant experience as a Special Education Paraeducator.
  • Experience working with children with special needs, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding and appreciation of Waldorf education principles and methodologies.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the growth and development of students with special needs.
  • Ability to adapt and respond to the unique challenges and needs of each student.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with or knowledge of Waldorf education.
  • Additional certifications or training in special education or related fields.
  • Experience in implementing IEPs and BIPs.
