We're looking for a Kitchen Hood/Fire Extinguisher Technician to join our team and help ensure fire systems are working properly and meet safety standards. This role is a great opportunity to make a difference while working with a supportive and knowledgeable team.

Job Overview

As a Fire Technician (Kitchen hood/Extinguisher), you'll conduct inspections, maintenance, and repairs to ensure fire systems meet all required safety standards. You'll also work closely with customers, educating them on proper system use and providing exceptional service.

This role is ideal for an experienced professional with a background in fire system installation, inspection, and repair who values precision and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

Inspection and Maintenance

  • Performs scheduled maintenance on fire extinguishers, including replacing seals, O-rings, gauges, and other components as needed; ensures that extinguishers are in optimal condition.
  • Recharges fire extinguishers after use or as required by maintenance schedules and verifies that extinguishers are filled with the appropriate extinguishing agent to the correct pressure level.
  • Maintains accurate records of test results and retesting schedules.
  • Maintains detailed records of all inspections, maintenance activities, recharging, and repairs performed on each fire extinguisher, ensuring that documentation is accurate and accessible.
  • Diagnoses and repairs malfunctioning fire extinguishers; replaces or repairs faulty components, such as valves, hoses, nozzles, and handles, to restore extinguisher functionality.
  • Conduct detailed inspections pre-engineered kitchen hood suppression systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure all fire suppression equipment is functional and compliant with state, local, and national codes.
  • Document all inspections, maintenance, and repairs accurately and promptly.
  • May need to help with visual/audible inspections for fire alarm and fire sprinkler as needed.

System Installation and Repair

  • Install new fire suppression systems and components as needed.
  • Diagnose and repair malfunctioning or damaged systems, ensuring operational effectiveness.
  • Respond to emergency service calls to provide timely assistance.

Customer Support and Collaboration

  • Educate customers on the proper use and maintenance of fire suppression systems.
  • Work collaboratively with the fire protection team to deliver high-quality service and maintain safety compliance.

Experience/Training/Education

  • High school diploma.
  • California Title 19 Certificate of Registration type 1 and 2.
  • NFPA -10 Certification or manufacturer specific certification or training, preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in fire extinguisher inspection, maintenance, testing, and repair in a large-scale, high-volume facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of fire safety codes, regulations, and industry standards related to fire extinguishers.
  • Kitchen Hood experience preferred.
