Position Type: Full-Time, Entry-Level
Pay Range: $30 to $35/Hr Base + Commissions (Depending on Experience)

About the Role
Are you a tech-savvy problem solver who enjoys coding, strives to understand how things work and helps others? Melissa Data is seeking a dynamic, self-motivated Sales Engineer I / Software QA Engineer to join our team in Rancho Santa Margarita in our Data Quality Tools department.
This unique hybrid role bridges the gap between deep technical aspects of quality assurance, and client-facing sales engineering. You will split your time between ensuring our software is robust, suggesting improvements to the services and helping our sales team showcase its value to prospective clients. New college graduates and coding bootcamp alumni are highly encouraged to apply!

What You’ll Do:
  • Quality Assurance: Write comprehensive test cases, perform smoke/regression testing, build test applications for internal use, and develop automated testing scripts.
  • Technical Support & Diagnostics: Perform deep-dive root cause analysis on technical issues, replicate bugs, and investigate complex data processes.
  • Pre-Sales & Presentation: Partner with the pre-sales team to deliver compelling technical presentations to clients, translating complex tech into business value.
  • Customer Relations: Check in with our high value clients to ensure that they are extracting maximum value from their integration with our products and serve as a trusted resource for all projects pertaining to data quality best practices.
  • Data & Dashboarding: Create internal dashboards (Grafana) to monitor metrics, site reliability and provide critical business intelligence back to the team based on customer engagements.
  • Stay Agile: Continuously learn and adopt shifting technologies in a fast-paced environment.

What You Bring: (Minimum Requirements)
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science (or a related field) OR a certified coding school credential.
  • Coding Skills: Proficiency in at least one major programming language (e.g., Python, Java, C#, C++).
  • Communication Power: Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills—you can write clear documentation and confidently speak to clients.
  • Analytical Mindset: A strong willingness to do deep dives into data, processes, and technical troubleshooting between different programming languages and/or platforms.
  • Mobility: Willingness and ability to occasionally travel to industry trade shows and conventions.

Bonus Points For: (Preferred Qualifications)
  • Basic knowledge of database languages (SQL) or advanced Excel formulas.
  • Familiarity with DevOps/Cloud tools like Docker, Kubernetes, and RESTful services.
  • BASH or PowerShell experience
  • Exposure to QA methodologies (smoke testing, regression testing).
  • Experience with development tools like Jira, Confluence, and Git (or other version control systems).
  • Experience with Grafana, Tableau, Power BI, or other dashboard creation tools.
  • Proficiencies or fluency in other Languages other than English.
  • Prior experience in software technical support, QA software engineering or a similar customer-facing technical role.

Perks & Benefits
We believe in taking care of our team. At Melissa, you’ll enjoy:
  • Financial Growth: Competitive base salary + commission structure, plus a 401(k) plan with company matching.
  • Work-Life Balance: Partial WFH/remote privileges after a successful 90-day evaluation period, plus paid holidays and PTO.
  • Health & Wellness: Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, Flexible Spending Account. Workout & Yoga classes with personal trainer.
  • Office Perks: Free EV charging parking spots, an endless supply of snacks/drinks/coffee, and an on-site soft-serve ice cream machine! Pamper yourself with free haircuts and manicures.
  • Free Food: Company-sponsored lunches every Wednesday and Friday, plus quarterly department lunches.
