Boscov's Tax Analyst - Indirect Tax

We are looking for a Tax Analyst to join our team!

Reporting to the Director of Tax, the Tax Analyst will own the day-to-day indirect tax compliance function, preparing and filing returns across multiple state and local jurisdictions and ensuring accurate, timely payment. This role manages e-commerce sales and use tax compliance, self-assessed use tax accruals, personal property tax, and Act 43 reporting, and partners with departments across the company on taxability questions. It is a strong fit for a detail-driven tax professional who wants ownership of a broad compliance portfolio.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and file indirect tax returns across multiple state and local jurisdictions on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis
  • Manage e-commerce sales tax compliance reporting including coordinating data submission to a third-party compliance provider , overseeing tax payments, resolving filing issues and preparing account reconciliations to ensure accurate and timely reporting.
  • Review invoices with the Expense Department for proper taxability
  • Direct system and manual use tax accrual calculations, with weekly and monthly reconciliations
  • Prepare the monthly sales and use tax payable account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items
  • Oversee Act 43 reporting, including calculations, payments, filings, and quarterly reconciliations
  • Manage Personal Property Tax end to end, from reporting through bill payment
  • Maintain the tax calendar for all indirect taxes
  • Respond to notices and inquiries from state and local tax authorities
  • Research tax law changes in assigned jurisdictions and brief management on the impact
  • Support indirect tax audits with documentation and issue research
  • Identify process improvements and risks, and propose solutions to management
  • Handle special projects across sales tax, licensing, and general ledger accounting

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree (business-related concentration preferred)
  • 2+ years of indirect tax experience
  • Working knowledge of sales tax rules and regulations
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Self-starter with a high level of ownership
  • Good analytical, organizational, and communication skills
  • Customer focused approach with internal and external partners
  • Team oriented with a willingness to learn

Preferred Qualifications

  • Multistate sales and use tax compliance
  • Personal property tax and Act 43 reporting a plus.
  • ERP systems and general ledger reconciliation
  • Retail industry experience a plus.
