Position Description
Primary Purpose and Essential Functions
The School of Engineering and Computer Science at the University of the Pacific invites applications for a full-time non-tenure-track (NTT) Lecturer or Assistant Professor of Practice (depending on Ph.D. or industry experience) in Construction Engineering to start in August 2026. The successful candidate will contribute across programs, particularly in Civil Engineering and Engineering management. The standard workload is seven (7) courses over the Fall and Spring Semesters or equivalent, which may be distributed across:
  • Undergraduate and graduate teaching in areas such as: Construction management, Project planning and scheduling, Cost estimation and control, Construction methods and materials, Engineering management and project delivery systems.
  • Course and curriculum development, including development of new courses aligned with industry needs.
  • Program development and support, particularly strengthening connections between Civil Engineering and Engineering Management programs.
  • Student advising and mentoring, including support for student projects, competitions, and career preparation.
  • Engagement with industry partners, including experiential learning opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications
  • MS in Construction Engineering, Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Engineering Management, or a closely related field.
  • Three (3) years of Relevant industry experience in construction or project management.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a closely related discipline.
  • Professional licensure (e.g., PE) or industry certifications.
  • Five (5) years of Full-time industry experience and decision-making responsibilities in the construction industry or project management.
  • Prior teaching experience in construction engineering or management topics.
  • A demonstrated interest in interdisciplinary education across civil engineering, construction engineering, and engineering management.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

Hiring Range $75,000 - $85,000 (We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate's qualifications, internal equity, as well as organizational considerations when extending an offer. Special Instructions
