Job Summary

The Production Manager provides strategic leadership and operational oversight for all day-to-day locomotive production activities and all manufacturing operations within the facility.

This role ensures the safe, timely, and cost-effective execution of production processes to meet organizational goals. The Production Manager is responsible for managing the production schedule, optimizing labor, material, and equipment utilization, and driving continuous improvement across all manufacturing functions.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Direct all daily production operations, ensuring work is completed safely, on schedule, and in accordance with established quality standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure product designs support efficient manufacturing, serviceability, and long-term equipment reliability.
  • Develop, implement, and refine manufacturing processes to support production efficiency and operational excellence.
  • Plan and coordinate with the Materials Manager to ensure timely availability of materials, PPE, maintenance supplies, and consumables required for production.
  • Ensure all equipment, tools, and production assets are properly maintained, clean, and in safe working condition.
  • Provide detailed facility and production updates to senior leadership, including performance metrics, operational challenges, and improvement initiatives.
  • Provide leadership, guidance, coaching, and performance management to production employees, as applicable.
  • Promote and reinforce a strong safety culture by communicating expectations, implementing safety programs, and ensuring compliance with all safety policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by management.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in production management within Transportation, Logistics, Rail Operations, or Heavy Manufacturing.

Equivalent Minimum Qualifications

  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • 5+ years of experience managing production in locomotive shop environments.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 2+ years of experience managing production in locomotive shop environments.
  • 2+ years of supervisory experience in any of the above fields.

Knowledge and Skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
