Job description

Product Recall Underwriter
Department: Specialty Lines
Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time
Location: US - New York
Compensation: $140,000 - $180,000 / year
Description
We're looking for our first Product Recall Underwriter on the ground in the US to join CFC and help shape the next phase of our growth.
This is a genuinely exciting opportunity to build something from the ground up. You'll take ownership of underwriting Product Recall risks across the US market, working closely with our established team while playing a key role in expanding our presence, building broker relationships and driving the growth of a high-potential portfolio.
Based working hybrid in our New York office or remotely from one of our US hubs in Chicago or Atlanta, this is a highly commercial, outward-facing role where you'll combine strong underwriting discipline with a real passion for business development and market engagement.
About the role
As our first onshore Product Recall Underwriter, you'll be instrumental in establishing and growing our US footprint. You'll work hand-in-hand with the Team Leader and wider global team to develop the portfolio, build broker partnerships and position CFC as a market leader in this space.
Day to day, you'll be:
  • Underwriting new business and renewal submissions, delivering outstanding service to brokers and producing quotes within agreed parameters
  • Building and developing strong relationships with wholesale brokers across the US, identifying opportunities to grow the Product Recall portfolio
  • Getting out into the market - travelling regularly to broker meetings, industry events and conferences to raise CFC's profile and win new business
  • Presenting CFC's products and insights, helping brokers understand the value of our Product Recall offering and coverage enhancements
  • Contributing to team initiatives, from product development and launches through to process improvements and strategic projects
  • Collaborating with colleagues across CFC to drive cross-sell opportunities and build Product Recall expertise across the wider US business

This is a role for someone who enjoys being visible in the market and wants to play a key role in building a product line in a fast-growing, entrepreneurial environment.
About you
You'll be a confident, commercially minded underwriter who enjoys building relationships and spotting opportunities for growth.
You'll likely bring:
  • Experience underwriting Product Recall risks, or a closely related line
  • A strong track record of broker engagement or business development within the insurance market
  • A natural ability to present, influence and build credibility with both small and large audiences
  • Strong analytical thinking and a practical, commercial approach to risk
  • Excellent communication skills and the confidence to operate in a fast-paced, target-driven environment

Most importantly, you'll be excited by the opportunity to build something new - taking ownership of a developing portfolio and helping to shape its success in the US market.
