Description
Roanoke-Chowan Community College (R-CCC) seeks a visionary industry leader to bridge the gap between classroom learning and the modern manufacturing floor. This isn't just a teaching role-it is a legacy-building position. We are looking for a professional who is ready to transition their years of field expertise into a meaningful second career, mentoring the next generation of technicians and serving as a vital link between the college and our regional industrial partners.
Why This Role is Perfect for an Industry Veteran
  • Impact: You aren't just following a syllabus; you are building the workforce for your own community.
  • Stability: Trade the demands of the field for a structured academic calendar that offers a better work-life balance.
  • Leadership: Use your years of management or "lead tech" experience to guide a growing department.

Job Description
Industry Liaison & Program Innovation
  • Network & Partnerships: Serve as the primary architect for local industry partnerships, ensuring our students are the first choice for internships and regional hiring pipelines.
  • Advisory Leadership: Convene and lead the Program Advisory Committee, translating real-world industry trends into cutting-edge curriculum updates.
  • Workforce Alignment: Ensure program equipment and training modules reflect the current standards in hydraulics, pneumatics, PLCs, and robotics used by our local partners.

Mentorship & Instruction (The "Expert in the Room")
  • Hands-on Training: Deliver engaging, lab-based instruction that prioritizes practical skill-building over theory.
  • Student Success: Serve as a mentor and academic advisor, helping students navigate their path from the classroom to a professional career.
  • Instructional Support: For experts new to the classroom, R-CCC provides dedicated support and tools to help you translate your technical knowledge into effective teaching strategies.

Operational Stewardship
  • Departmental Oversight: Manage program documentation, equipment inventories, and safety protocols with the same precision required in an industrial setting.
  • Adjunct Mentorship: Recruit and guide part-time instructors to ensure a consistent, high-quality experience for all students.
  • Administrative Excellence: Maintain student records (attendance/grading) using our digital platforms, ensuring compliance with institutional standards.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years of professional success in industrial environments (Automated Manufacturing, Electrical Systems, Robotics, or related fields).
  • Education: Associate or Bachelor's degree in Mechatronics, Industrial Systems, or a related engineering field.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in training, mentoring, or lead-person roles.
  • Familiarity with modern learning technology (we will train the right candidate).
