Patent Agent / Patent Associate (Elec/Comp/Soft Eng.) 3+ Years – Intellectual Property (Austin, TX | Onsite)

Direct Counsel represents a well-regarded Am Law firm seeking a Patent Agent or Patent Associate to join its growing Intellectual Property practice in Austin. This is a standout opportunity to work on cutting-edge technologies, including AI/ML, software, fintech, and telecommunications.

You’ll play a key role in building and managing strategic patent portfolios for innovative clients ranging from startups to established technology companies.

What You’ll Do:

  • Draft and prosecute patent applications in the computer arts (software, AI/ML, fintech, telecom, etc.)
  • Advise clients on patent strategy, portfolio development, and IP protection
  • Work directly with inventors and business teams to identify and protect innovations
  • Support domestic and international patent prosecution efforts

What We’re Looking For:

  • 3+ years of patent prosecution experience
  • Strong experience drafting software and computer-related patent applications
  • USPTO registration required
  • Technical background in electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science, or similar
  • Experience with AI/ML or emerging technologies is a strong plus
  • Excellent writing, analytical, and client communication skills
  • Strong academic credentials
