OVERVIEW

This position is responsible for the general supervision, instruction, and management of a class between the ages of 3 and 5 years old.
Starting Pay Rate: $15 per hour
Full Time/Year Round or Full Time/Seasonal

RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties of this position include but are not limited to:
  • To keep the learners safe at all times; must be familiar with all emergency procedures and aware of special conditions for the learners within the school.
  • Communicate to the Director any challenges, concerns, and solutions you may have.
  • Help provide and maintain an environment in which the learner may grow physically, emotionally, mentally, and socially.
  • Prepare engaging, hands-on lesson plans that encourage growth and that go along with monthly and weekly themes.
  • Responsible for schedules and procedures for your classroom. Learning experiences should be consistent and follow the order of the unit/theme.
  • The teacher must follow a posted schedule and utilize the Early Learning Coalition Assessment checklist to ensure all required areas are being met.
  • Remember that each learner is an individual whose talents, interests, and pace of learning differ.
  • Treat the learner with dignity and respect while encouraging independence.
  • Implement the school's chosen behavioral system consistently and fairly.
  • Maintain a professional attitude at all times.
  • Keep rooms neat, orderly, and clean.
  • Attend all staff meetings and school programs.
  • Participate in recommended training programs and courses-complete 25 hours of in-service annually between July 1 and June 30.
  • Conduct parent conferences as needed. See the Director beforehand to review what will be discussed.
  • Be loyal to the school at all times.
  • Lead by example - Training up assistants to take lead roles and make our school stronger.

Requirements
  • All employees must be fingerprinted and pass a background screening process by the Clearinghouse. https://info.flclearinghouse.com
  • MUST pass the DCF background screening process.
  • Experience in working with learners; a commitment to teaching is essential.
  • A degree in Early Childhood is preferred but required.
  • 45 hours DCF training.
  • Must have his/her CDA or be working towards it.
  • Experience in preschool education is required.
  • All VPK teachers must maintain their CDA and any necessary coursework determined by the Pasco Hernando Early Learning Coalition.
