Who We Are

HII - Mission Technologies is seeking a Cloud Engineer. The Cloud Engineer analyzes, designs, develops, and implements cloud infrastructure solutions to support mission requirements and enterprise modernization initiatives. This role evaluates technical and management cloudinfrastructure needs, participates in selecting and deploying OpenStack distributions, and ensures full integration into a hybrid cloud environment. The engineer works closely with crossfunctional technical teams to automate infrastructure, optimize performance, enhance security, and mature the organization's hybrid IT ecosystem into a fully automated, serviceoriented environment. The role also supports cloud operations, monitoring, security compliance, and the development of scalable, automated solutions that strengthen enterprisewide cloud capabilities.

What You Will Do
  • Analyze technical and management cloudinfrastructure needs of TDLs and recommend appropriate solutions.
  • Participate in the selection and deployment of OpenStack distributions based on performance, SLAs, support, and cost considerations.
  • Design, develop, and implement private cloud infrastructure and ensure full integration with hybrid cloud platform management layers, identity management, and R&D infrastructure. 
  • Collaborate closely with other engineering teams to support cloud architecture, automation, and service delivery.
  • Support modernization initiatives to evolve infrastructure into a fully automated, serviceoriented hybrid IT environment. 
  • Automate build pipelines, migrations, security, and compliance operations within cloud environments. 
  • Manage TCP/IP networking for both cloud and onpremise environments. 
  • Use Azure and AWS automation tools and script or program cloudinfrastructure workflows. 
  • Define, implement, and manage cloudbased infrastructure while performing administrative tasks and application support for cloud platforms. 
  • Review cloudinfrastructure security, apply patches, create console roles, and install required security packs.
  • Implement enterprise monitoring technologies such as AlertSite, PagerDuty, OMS, SCOM, and Azure monitoring tools. 
  • Develop dashboards, monitoring solutions, alerts, and escalation workflows to support operational awareness.
  • Document cloud configurations, system workflows, and procedures while transferring knowledge to development teams. 
  • Identify opportunities for automation and develop scalable, cloudnative solutions to improve efficiency and reliability. 
  • Work closely with businesstechnology partners and leadership to ensure cloud solutions meet operational expectations and stakeholder requirements.
What We Are Looking For
  • Level 2: 2 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; or 0 years experience with Masters in related field. 
  • Level 3: 5 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 3 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 0 years experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field. 
  • Level 4: 9 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 7 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or 4 years relevant experience with PhD or Juris Doctorate in related field. 
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and supporting cloud and hybrid cloud environments. 
  • Experience with OpenStack deployment, configuration, and evaluation. 
  • Strong knowledge of Azure, AWS, and hybrid cloud technologies, including automation tools and cloudservice architectures.
  • Proficiency with scripting or programming languages (examples provided upon request). 
  • Experience managing TCP/IP networking in cloud and onpremise environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloudsecurity best practices, vulnerability remediation, patching, and access management. 
  • Experience implementing and administering enterprise monitoring systems (OMS, SCOM, Azure Monitor, PagerDuty, etc.). 
  • Familiarity with cloud DevOps pipelines, CI/CD automation, migrations, and compliance automation. 
  • Strong problemsolving skills and the ability to identify opportunities for automation and operational improvement. 
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills with experience working across technical teams and engaging diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to produce documentation, provide training, and support knowledge transfer across the development organization. 
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities in a dynamic environment. 
  • Clearance: Must possess and maintain a Top-Secret clearance.
Physical Requirements
Office, industrial or shipboard environment. Capable of climbing ladders and tolerating confined spaces and extreme temperature variances. Lifting and moving of materials not to exceed the guidelines set for one man lift.
