Job description

We are looking for a dependable, safety-conscious Fire Watcher for a project in Kittery, ME. This role is responsible for monitoring hot work activities and helping ensure a safe work environment by identifying and responding to potential fire hazards. The ideal candidate is attentive, proactive, and committed to maintaining the highest safety standards on the job site.

Pay- $20-22 an hour

Responsibilities
  • Monitor areas where welding, cutting, grinding, soldering, and other hot work operations are being performed.
  • Observe for sparks, smoke, excessive heat, and other potential fire hazards.
  • Verify that combustible materials are removed, covered, or otherwise protected prior to hot work activities.
  • Maintain fire extinguishers and emergency response equipment in readily accessible locations.
  • Remain on-site during hot work operations and throughout the required post-work fire watch period.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions and respond appropriately in emergency situations.
  • Follow OSHA regulations, company safety policies, and site-specific fire prevention procedures.
  • Complete fire watch logs, inspections, permits, and related documentation accurately and on time.
  • Work closely with site supervisors and trades personnel to maintain a safe work environment.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Successful completion of a background check is required.
  • Previous experience in construction, industrial settings, fire watch, or safety-related roles is preferred.
  • Ability to remain alert and focused in active construction or industrial environments.
  • Strong observation, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and work outdoors or in industrial settings for extended periods.
  • Familiarity with workplace safety practices, emergency procedures, and fire prevention protocols is a plus.
