A Full Time Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) works under the supervision of an occupational therapist to help patients develop, recover, and improve the skills needed for daily living and working. They assist in implementing treatment plans, teaching patients exercises and activities, and monitoring their progress. OTAs often work in settings such as hospitals, rehabilitation centers, schools, and nursing care facilities, providing hands-on care and support to individuals of all ages who face physical, developmental, or emotional challenges.

How do occupational therapy assistants typically collaborate with occupational therapists and other healthcare professionals on a daily basis?

Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTAs) work closely with Occupational Therapists by implementing treatment plans, documenting patient progress, and providing feedback for plan adjustments. They also regularly collaborate with other healthcare professionals such as physical therapists, nurses, and social workers to ensure a holistic approach to patient care. Daily responsibilities often include attending interdisciplinary team meetings, communicating patient needs, and coordinating schedules to optimize therapy outcomes. This collaborative environment not only supports patient progress but also offers OTAs opportunities to learn from diverse professionals and develop their own clinical skills.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a full time occupational therapy assistant, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Full Time Occupational Therapy Assistant, you need a solid understanding of therapeutic techniques, human anatomy, and rehabilitation principles, usually supported by an associate degree from an accredited OTA program and state licensure or certification. Familiarity with documentation software, adaptive equipment, and electronic health records (EHRs) is essential. Certified Occupational Therapy assistant (COTA) — Broward County

In Home Rehab of Florida provides in-home therapy services to older adults throughout South Florida. We work with Medicare Part A and Part B patients and partner with multiple home health agencies, allowing our therapists to access consistent opportunities through one company instead of having to contract with several agencies on their own.

We are looking for an experienced, dependable, and compassionate Occupational Therapy Assistant to join our growing team in Broward County. This is a great opportunity for a COTA who enjoys treating patients one-on-one in the home setting, wants flexibility, and is looking to add consistent visits to their schedule.

Our therapists benefit from multiple avenues of work, flexible scheduling, competitive compensation, and the support of a team that understands home health.

This position is ideal for a therapist who is already making home visits and would like to take on additional work, or for a therapist looking for a flexible model outside of the traditional clinic setting.

Responsibilities:

Treat patients in their homes throughout Broward County

Provide creative, individualized treatment sessions based on the patient’s plan of care

Assist patients with improving strength, balance, mobility, safety, and independence

Engage family members and caregivers as needed

Provide patient education, home exercise program instruction, and DME recommendations when appropriate

Complete timely and accurate documentation through EMR

Maintain frequent communication with the supervising therapist and office team

Follow Medicare and home health documentation guidelines

Requirements:

Active Florida Occupational Therapy Assistant license

Eligibility to work in the United States

Prior home health or geriatric experience preferred

Strong interpersonal and time management skills

Ability to treat patients independently in the home setting

Ability to complete documentation accurately and on time

Reliable transportation

Why Join In Home Rehab of Florida:

Flexible schedule — make your own hours

Competitive pay

One-on-one patient care

Steady opportunities through multiple agency contracts

Supportive and responsive team

No need to manage multiple agency relationships on your own

Opportunity to grow with an expanding South Florida therapy company

Job Type: Part-time
