Job description

Hennepin Healthcare is an integrated system of care that includes HCMC, a nationally recognized Level I Adult Trauma Center and Level I Pediatric Trauma Center and acute care hospital, as well as a clinic system with primary care clinics located in Minneapolis and across Hennepin County. The comprehensive healthcare system includes a 473-bed academic medical center, a large outpatient Clinic & Specialty Center, and a network of clinics in the North Loop, Whittier, and East Lake Street neighborhoods of Minneapolis, and in the suburban communities of Brooklyn Park, Golden Valley, Richfield, and St. Anthony Village. Hennepin Healthcare has a large psychiatric program, home care, and operates a research institute, philanthropic foundation, and Hennepin EMS. JOB DETAILS
Department: OB Resource Pool
FTE: 0.75 (60 hours per pay period)
Shift(s): Nights and Every Third Weekend plus on call per unit policy
Shift Length: 12 hours (5 shifts per pay period)
This position will be in the OB Resource Pool and will be cross-trained to work/float in OBGYN, Nursery, Labor and Delivery, Pediatrics and NICU
NOTE: This role will be required to also be trained as a charge nurse
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Within the context of the Hennepin Healthcare System Patient and Family Centered Care model, and under general supervision, the registered nurse provides and coordinates nursing care by:
  • Protecting, promoting, and optimizing health
  • Preventing illness and injury
  • Alleviating suffering through the treatment of the human response
  • Partnering with the patient, their family and significant others
  • Documenting interventions and an individualized plan of care

Minimum Qualifications:
  • 1 year of current professional nursing (RN) experience in an inpatient hospital setting

or
  • Completion of a Women & Children capstone/preceptorship (Labor and Delivery, Postpartum, GYN, NICU, and PEDS)
  • Graduation from an accredited school of nursing
  • Possession of a valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of Minnesota

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Certification in area of clinical specialty
  • BSN Preferred. Bachelor of Nursing degree is strongly encouraged. Advancement in academic education will be discussed as part of individual professional development during the annual performance review.
