Job description

Psychologist, Level I

The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The New York City Police Department strives to foster a safe and fair city through the strategic deployment of resources, focusing on both crime prevention and addressing quality-of-life concerns while building lasting community relationships.

The Candidate Assessment Division is responsible for overseeing the character investigation, physical agility testing, medical screening, and psychological testing of candidates seeking uniformed and civilian employment with the New York City Police Department. Under general supervision, with latitude for independent or unreviewed action or decision, the candidate will perform professional work in the field of psychology.

The employee is expected to conduct psychological testing and interviews, and through the selection, administration, interpretation of standard group and individual tests of personality development and intellectual capacity, evaluate individuals' emotional and intellectual functioning. The employee is also expected to prepare psychologist findings, and maintain suitable records and files of test performance results.

Work Schedule: Full-Time, Hybrid Schedule Offered.
