Job description

The Security Supervisor is responsible to manage the security operation during a particular shift which includes, but is not limited to, the following tasks:
  • Conduct the rollcall and ensure that all guards are present, in proper uniform and aware of their post orders and any special events.
  • Direct personnel changes during the shift and adjust posts as necessary.
  • Train, instruct, and supervise security personnel on organizational rules, regulations, policies, procedures, and post orders to ensure consistent compliance and effective security operations.
  • Respond to emergencies, alarm activations, criminal incidents, medical emergencies, and other significant events.
  • Direct security staff and coordinate response efforts with appropriate emergency service agencies (FDNY/NYPD and others) to ensure an effective and timely resolution to emergencies, providing informational updates to the Security Director and Assistant Security Director.
  • Ensure security personnel remain informed of recent incidents and current events as they relate to security and provide guidance on the proper application of established protocols, policies, and procedures to maintain effective and consistent operations.
  • Prepare detailed Incident Reports.

Qualifications
Education, Licenses and Certifications Required
  • Must be a NYS Licensed Security Officer
  • Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Must hold a current or be capable of obtaining FDNY Certificates of Fitness: F-03 Indoor Place of Assembly; F-04 Outdoor Place of Assembly

Type and Length of Specific Experience Required
  • Prior law enforcement experience required.
  • Prior supervisory experience in law enforcement, private sector security or military is preferred.
  • Required to work overnight shifts and weekend as scheduled. May be required to work legal holidays on scheduled days/shifts.
  • May be required to stay after scheduled shift to assist after an emergency situation until relief arrives.
  • Must be able to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs. regularly.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for consecutive hours.

Skills Required
  • Ability to interact professionally, courteously, and effectively with the public, employees, and visitors.
  • Ability to assess, analyze, and respond effectively to a variety of security situations.
  • Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
  • Ability to defuse and de-escalate tense or potentially confrontational situations using effective conflict resolution techniques.
  • Knowledge of electronic security systems, surveillance equipment, and access control systems.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

$27.95 - $27.95 an hour
