Description

 SAIC is seeking a TACNET CB-ISEA Senior Network Engineer (Fleet Support) to join our team in Norfolk, VA. This hybrid-remote position requires frequent and regular onsite support aboard U.S. Navy ships. The engineer will work directly with Active Duty personnel and government staff to deliver high quality repair and technical support for Navy afloat networks. Travel within the U.S. and internationally may be required (approx. 25%), along with occasional after hours support.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Provide timely patching and remediation of cybersecurity vulnerabilities to ensure the integrity and resilience of Navy afloat network systems.
  • Provide break/fix IT support in a fast paced shipboard environment and troubleshoot LAN issues to determine effective resolutions. 
  • Perform root cause analysis and recommend permanent configuration or system changes when needed. 
  • Deliver server and network break/fix support, including remote troubleshooting of servers, networks, desktops, and peripheral devices. 
  • Participate in technical meetings, prepare progress updates, and deliver briefs and presentations as needed.

Qualifications

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience. 4 additional years of experience in lieu of degree to be taken into consideration.
  • 1+ years of experience supporting military network environments relevant to the listed responsibilities. 
  • Administration experience with Cisco switches/routers, Windows Server, or Linux. 
  • Working knowledge of core networking concepts and protocols.

REQUIRED CLEARANCE

  • Active Secret Clearance. 
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS

  • Current DoD IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+). 
  • Ability to obtain an approved Operating System certification (e.g., CCNA, Microsoft Server Hybrid Administrator Associate, Linux+, VCP, or equivalent cloud certifications) within 6 months of hire.

DESIRED SKILLS

  • Knowledge of systems such as ADNS, ISNS, CANES, FSW, CENTRIXS, Legacy SCI, VIXS, and WRBS is a plus.
  • Experience administering enterprise scale networks. 
  • Proficiency with enterprise wireless technologies (802.11 standards, controller-based systems, RF design, tuning, and modern security such as WPA3/802.1X). 
  • Hands on experience with next generation firewalls, segmentation approaches, and zero trust architectures across large networks. 
  • Strong troubleshooting skills, including performing root cause analysis and developing corrective actions that minimize operational impact. 
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey technical information clearly and effectively in both verbal and written formats.
