Job description

Central Electric Power Cooperative (Jefferson City, MO) is accepting applications for the position of Transmission System Operator (TSO). This position works as part of the operations team to monitor and operate the CEPC electrical transmission system.

Primary responsibilities include monitoring power flows, voltages, and equipment status across the transmission system; writing switching orders; and remotely assisting field crews with equipment operation and control.

Qualified candidates should possess a minimum of an associate's degree in industrial electricity, electrical distribution systems, electronics, or a closely related field. Experience in power system operations, electrical dispatching or equivalent field work may be considered in lieu of a degree. Candidates must have the ability to attain and maintain NERC Transmission Operator certification within one year of the start date. Central will provide the training and continuing education required for the NERC certification. A solid understanding of electrical system fundamentals and basic computer proficiency are required. The ability to interpret complex electrical systems is preferred.

This position requires shift work, including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, and the ability to be on call.

Central Electric Power Cooperative offers a competitive wage and comprehensive benefits package, including a choice of three medical plans (all with prescription drug coverage), a 401(k) Traditional or Roth savings and investment plan, an additional retirement pension plan, Section 125 cafeteria plan, life insurance, and a voluntary dental plan. Employees start with 40 hours of vacation and are provided with 10 holidays a year plus a floating holiday.

Compensation range: $75,000 - $133,000, depending on qualifications and experience, with advancement opportunities tied to NERC certification.
