Experienced Pipefitters – Join MHI Ship Repair & Services

MHI Ship Repair & Services is a leading marine repair and conversion contractor serving the U.S. Navy, Military Sealift Command, Maritime Administration, and commercial ship owners and operators worldwide. Located in the heart of Hampton Roads in Norfolk, Virginia, MHI offers rewarding careers with competitive pay, excellent benefits, and opportunities for growth.

Position: Pipefitter

We're seeking experienced Pipefitters to join our team. Depending on your experience, responsibilities may include:

  • Reading blueprints and planning work from start to finish using safe and efficient work practices.
  • Laying out, installing, repairing, and modifying shipboard piping systems and supports.
  • Cutting, threading, bending, and fitting pipe using hand and power tools.
  • Installing and connecting piping to pumps, tanks, radiators, galley equipment, and other shipboard systems.
  • Welding or bolting pipe supports and completing required fit-up documentation.
  • Performing hydrostatic and pressure testing to verify system integrity.
  • Maintaining tools, equipment, and work areas in accordance with safety and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications
  • At least 2 years of Pipefitter experience in ship repair, shipbuilding, or a related industry.
  • Strong knowledge of Pipefitter tools, equipment, and fabrication processes.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Dependable, safety-focused, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
