Your Role:

This position provides civil engineering design support for pipeline, pump/compressor station, and terminal/tank projects nationwide. You will work with a multi-disciplinary project team, under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. We will provide training that will allow our civil engineers to quickly become active members of our design team.

Typical tasks associated with completing civil engineering design for midstream projects include but aren't limited to:

  • Site grading
  • Road design
  • Culvert sizing
  • Balancing cut and fill
  • Drainage analysis and design

Qualifications:

  • B.S. in ABET accredited Civil Engineering program with 0 - 5 years of relevant experience. NCEES record preferred.
  • Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering Exam (FE).
  • Licensed Professional Engineer Civil branch (PE civil) preferred.
  • Ability and desire to sit for the 8-hour NCEES Professional Engineer PE exam, if not currently licensed.
  • Familiar with CAD standards, linetypes, layers, Civil 3D pipe networks, pipe parts, surface styles, label styles, general notes.
  • Proficient with CAD Civil 3D software and how to assemble plans and reports in a logical order.
  • Knowledge in the Midstream Oil & Gas industry, specifically crude oil, refined products, CO2, NGL, wet and natural gas is preferred.
  • Understand civil engineering design, analysis, and development of scope of work documents.
  • Ability to apply civil engineering knowledge and techniques for industrial capital projects.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Embraces teamwork approach and possess strong communication skills.
  • NCEES record preferred.
  • Knowledge in the Midstream Oil & Gas industry specifically, crude oil, refined products, CO2, NGL, wet and natural gas preferred.
  • A Pre-employment drug screening in compliance with state regulations is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license with a clean driving record without restrictions. 
     

Target salary range:  $65,000 to $80,000. Please note that Tetra Tech considers various factors in determining pay, including but not limited to: education, relevant and demonstrated work experience in the role, skills, geographic location, qualifications, certifications, and other competencies relevant to the needs of the business.

Physical Requirements:

  • Required to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, bend, and reach with hands and arms.

  • Use hands to keyboard or type, handle materials, or manipulate objects.

  • Light work that includes lifting and/or moving up to 20 pounds and, occasionally, up to 50 pounds.

  • Frequently moving about to accomplish tasks.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this classification include close vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

  • Sufficient clarity of speech and hearing abilities required by this classification includes those which permit the employee to discern verbal instructions and communicate effectively in-person and by telephone.

  • Requires composure and ability to prioritize and handle several urgent tasks and requests simultaneously with a high level of competence and accuracy.

  • Occasionally climbing stairs and ladders at active oil & gas facilities.

Work Environment / Environmental Factors:

Environmental factors mostly consist of work being conducted in an indoor office environment, but is not limited to extreme temperatures (e.g., cold, heat), fumes, variable weather conditions, outdoor work, and noise due to some travel & work at operating client facilities and active construction sites.

  • Travel: Up to 15%, but will vary project to project, year to year and likely be much less at times.
