Job description

Job Details
First shift, on call, holidays and weekends are required.
The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patient's internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.
Job Description
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explains radiographic procedure to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to being performed.
  • Communicate effectively with the patient.
  • Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons in order to limit radiation exposure.
  • Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  • Maintains x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results.
  • Maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job positions
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.

Competencies (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required):
  • Knowledge of RIS systems
  • Knowledge of PAC's systems
