The Westside Atlanta Charter School Math Curriculum Coach (Grades 3-8) has a pioneering spirit, is creative, and is committed to cultivating an exemplary instructional environment that supports the academic achievement of a diverse school population. The Math Curriculum Coach is committed to the vision and mission of Westside Atlanta Charter School, its governing board, community, parents, colleagues, and students, and plays a critical role in strengthening math instruction and student outcomes across grades 3-8.

  • Support and promote Westside Atlanta Charter School's focus on literacy and language within mathematics instruction.

Instructional Leadership & Coaching
  • Provide ongoing coaching and support to Grades 3-8 math teachers through modeling, co-teaching, observation, and feedback cycles.
  • Support teachers in developing and implementing student-centered, standards-aligned math instruction that promotes conceptual understanding and procedural fluency.
  • Analyze student data with teachers to inform instructional decisions and drive improved student outcomes.
  • Facilitate professional learning communities (PLCs) focused on math instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies.
  • Support the implementation of high-quality instructional materials and ensure alignment with Georgia Performance Standards.
Planning and Preparation
  • Demonstrate deep content knowledge and pedagogy in mathematics, including the ability to design and support rigorous, student-centered instructional practices.
  • Guide teachers in planning differentiated learning experiences that meet the diverse needs of all students.
  • Support the development of instructional units that incorporate a variety of resources, including manipulatives, models, instructional technology, and real-world applications.
  • Ensure vertical and horizontal alignment of math curriculum across Grades 3-8.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of formative and summative assessments to monitor student progress and inform instruction.
Classroom Environment
  • Support teachers in establishing classroom environments built on respect, collaboration, and a shared commitment to learning.
  • Promote high expectations for all students and encourage a growth mindset in mathematics.
  • Assist teachers in developing effective classroom procedures that maximize instructional time and student engagement.
  • Support strategies for managing student behavior in ways that maintain a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Encourage the organization of classroom spaces that support both whole group and small group instruction in mathematics.
Instruction
  • Model standards-based mathematics lessons to demonstrate effective instructional practices and the use of student data to inform teaching practices
  • Support teachers in communicating clear learning goals, objectives, and success criteria in math lessons.
  • Promote the use of effective questioning and discourse strategies that deepen student understanding.
  • Encourage the design of rigorous, engaging tasks that allow for multiple solution pathways and real-world application.
  • Guide teachers in providing meaningful, standards-aligned feedback to students.
  • Support instructional flexibility by helping teachers use real-time data to adjust instruction and meet student needs.
Professional Responsibilities
  • Demonstrate exemplary oral and written communication skills.
  • Stay current with research-based best practices in math instruction and coaching, and apply them to improve teaching and learning.
  • Build strong collegial relationships to support collaborative planning and alignment across grade levels and content areas.
  • Lead and participate in professional development related to mathematics instruction.
  • Represent Westside Atlanta Charter School in a professional manner at all times.
  • Support standardized testing processes and ensure accurate data collection and analysis.
  • Partner with families to support student learning and build strong home-school connections.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science degree or higher
  • Holds a current Teaching Certificate in Mathematics and/or Mathematics Endorsement
  • Demonstrated expertise in mathematics instruction (Grades 3-8 preferred)
  • Experience coaching or leading adult learning preferred
Preferred Qualifications
  • Teacher Support & Coaching Endorsement
  • Experience designing and implementing student-centered math instruction
  • Experience with data analysis and progress monitoring
  • Gifted and/or ESOL Certification preferred
  • Strong proficiency with instructional technology
