The David Eccles School of Business is seeking qualified applicants for a Career Coach with the Full-Time MBA Program. The ideal candidate will possess an "entrepreneurial vision,"be comfortable with change in a fast-moving environment, have a strong customer service orientation, desire to succeed in placement metrics, and a high level of professionalism.
  • Provide career coaching for Full-Time MBA students using Career Center programming for career clarity, professional branding, job search strategies, interviewing skills, and offer negotiation.
  • Builds and maintains alumni network and employer relationships to increase MBA internships and employment opportunities.
  • Facilitate connections between MBAs and alumni.
Responsibilities
  • Provide one-on-one career coaching to help MBA students obtain their career goals.
  • Advise MBA students on all career activities, including job-search strategies, resume preparation, interviewing skills, offer evaluation, and negotiation.
  • Execute employer relationship development strategy and increase the range and variety of networking opportunities through recruiting sessions, workshops, and company visits/events.
  • Attend national career fairs with students and help promote relationships with employers.
  • Able to keep current on key trends in recruiting and hiring, with deep knowledge of the employment market and corporate hiring practices.
  • Deep knowledge of key industries and roles that MBA students are seeking.
  • Build and maintain a network with alumni and corporate hiring executives, recruiters, and identify employers seeking MBA talent.
  • Assists with the management of outcome data in career management systems and produces related reports, analytics, insights, and recommendations.
  • Collaborates, partners, and builds productive relationships across the business school.

Minimum Qualifications
EQUIVALENCY STATEMENT: 1 year of higher education can be substituted for 1 year of directly related work experience (Example: bachelor's degree = 4 years of directly related work experience).

  • Requires a bachelor's (or equivalency) + 6 years or a master's (or equivalency) + 4 years of directly related work experience.
  • Models and embraces extraordinary service levels with an emphasis on responsiveness to support full-time MBA students.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including various students, alumni, faculty, staff, and business professionals.
  • Ability to work under pressure, with the flexibility to respond to changing priorities and fluctuating workloads.
  • Approach responsibilities of the position proactively and self-sufficiently.
  • Strong technical aptitude and experience with CRMs and recruiting software, social networking, job sites, advanced skills in MS Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel, and survey software.
  • A client-oriented attitude, fantastic customer service ethic, and high expectations for quality with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Strong business acumen.
  • Ability to work independently in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Preferences
  • 10+ years of professional work experience in the private sector, with experience working in one or more fields that employ MBAs.
  • Experience with, knowledge of, or demonstrated interest in business careers.
  • Experience coaching domestic and international students on career pivots in a competitive market.
  • An understanding of and appreciation for the needs and concerns of a broad MBA student body.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, human resources, talent operations, or executive recruiting. An MBA, MS, or coaching certification is a plus.
