Role Overview :
The Machine Shop Supervisor provides leadership to a team of 12+ first and second shift Milling and Shop Support teams, including team leaders and direct labor. The Machine Shop Supervisor responsibilities include ensuring a safe work environment, production operations, budgetary compliance, product quality, maintenance, and staff management. This leader is responsible and accountable for developing and coordinating the activities of personnel to ensure the production of high-quality products, on-time, and at the lowest possible cost.
Work Environment : Monday - Friday, 8am - 5pm, onsite.
Key Responsibilities :
  • Delivers safety, quality, delivery, and cost improvements.
  • Provides leadership to direct reports, influences peers, and manages up accordingly.
  • Delivers KPI performance results in-line with site objectives.
  • Drives setup and machining processes to continue improvement.
  • Review production demand and update the milling schedule.
  • Utilizes continuous improvement, lean methods, and SMED (setup reduction) to deliver positive results.
  • Maintains a high level of 5S. Monitors and inspects to ensure compliance and commitment.
  • Effectively manages the Tier Reporting System; communicates and escalates issues to drive awareness, resolve, and mitigate potential and real issues.
  • Enforces transactional accuracy within machining departments and maintains accurate inventory control.
  • Supports capacity planning, staffing areas appropriately, and resolves staffing issues and constraints.
  • Ensures training and development of direct and indirect reports; utilizes succession planning, skills matrices, and other performance management tools.
  • Models, administers, and enforces company policy and procedures.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Critical Competencies for Success:
  • Two-year degree from an accredited college or university and/or equivalent desired.
  • Supervisory experience in a machining environment highly desired.
  • Experience setting up and operating multi-axis machining centers desired.
  • Experience with Mazak, and/or Haas machining centers desired.
  • Knowledgeable with machining concepts and processes, quality assurance, and tooling technology.
  • Optimizes production through application of lean principals, manufacturing knowledge, and staff capacity.
  • Develops, promotes, and maintains a positive teamwork environment through effective leadership practices.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Works closely with Operations Excellence Manager to understand and achieve department and company goals.
  • Ability to interview, identify, and retain talent. Must be skilled in coaching and motivating others with proven interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrate excellent problem-solving capabilities.
  • Ability to understand and apply ISO 9001 standards.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office products - Teams, Outlook, Word, Power Point, and Excel; this is critical for communication, reports, presentations, and data tracking.
  • Must have aptitude to learn and utilize ADP, ERP (Epicor), and other software as required.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Pay range: $80,000 - $92,000 salary.
Within this range, individual pay is determined based on skills, experience, and qualifications relative to the job requirements. Base pay information is aligned with market location and may be subject to prevailing wage laws, if applicable.
