General Manager – Luminary Genetics

Luminary Genetics is seeking a visionary and operationally driven General Manager to lead and scale our rapidly growing Pre-Implantation Genetic Testing (PGT) business.

  • Location: San Jose, California
  • Travel: Up to 50%
  • Compensation: $250,000 to $300,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

The Opportunity

The General Manager will serve as senior leader responsible for the overall performance, growth, and strategic direction of Luminary Genetics’ PGT laboratory business. Reporting directly to the President of Luminary Life Sciences, this individual will lead all operational, financial, commercial, and regulatory aspects of the laboratory enterprise.

This role is designed for a highly accomplished life sciences executive with strong commercial instincts, operational leadership expertise, and experience managing complex laboratory or diagnostic businesses. The General Manager will operate the laboratory as a high-performing business unit with full accountability for revenue growth, profitability, quality systems, scalability, and customer satisfaction.

Role Overview
In this role, you will lead and oversee all aspects of the business including:

  • Driving overall business strategy, operational performance, and long-term growth initiatives
  • Leading full P&L management, including revenue growth, margin optimization, budgeting, forecasting, and EBITDA performance
  • Scaling laboratory operations while maintaining exceptional quality, turnaround time, and regulatory compliance
  • Partnering with commercial, scientific, and executive leadership teams to expand market presence and service offerings
  • Developing and executing strategic sales and marketing initiatives to strengthen client relationships and drive new business opportunities
  • Overseeing laboratory operations, workflow optimization, process improvement, and operational scalability
  • Ensuring compliance with all CLIA, CAP, OSHA, HIPAA, state, and federal regulatory requirements
  • Leading organizational development efforts, including recruitment, team leadership, mentorship, and employee retention
  • Presenting financial and operational performance updates to executive leadership and Board stakeholders
  • Building a culture centered on accountability, innovation, operational excellence, and customer service

Qualifications

The ideal candidate is a proven leader with deep experience in life sciences, laboratory operations and commercial business management. We are seeking a leader who brings:

  • 5 to 10+ years of progressive leadership experience within life sciences, diagnostics, laboratory services, or related healthcare industries
  • Demonstrated success leading a comparable laboratory, diagnostics, or life sciences business with full operational and financial accountability
  • Strong experience managing P&L performance, budgeting, forecasting, and operational metrics
  • Master’s degree in Business Administration, Laboratory Sciences, Genetics, or related discipline required; PhD preferred
  • Strong understanding of laboratory operations, quality systems, and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and build high-performing organizations
  • Experience driving commercial growth, client retention, and strategic business expansion
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
  • Strong analytical and operational problem-solving capabilities
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, growth-oriented, and highly collaborative environment
  • Willingness and ability to travel up to 50% as needed
