Job description

Contract Litigation Defense Attorney
Location: Remote, CA
Pay Rate: $80 to $100 per hour
Job Type: Contract/Contract to Hire, Full-Time, Remote
LHH is working with a well-regarded boutique law firm in Los Angeles, seeking a skilled Contract Litigation Defense Attorney to join their team on a contract basis. This hybrid position offers the opportunity to handle diverse litigation matters in a collaborative and professional environment.
Responsibilities:
  • Independently manage a litigation caseload, including all aspects of case handling from initial analysis to resolution
  • Draft, review, and revise legal documents including answers, motions to dismiss, summary judgment motions, discovery requests and responses, pretrial motions, and settlement agreements
  • Conduct legal research and draft memoranda on complex legal issues
  • Appear for hearings, depositions, mediations, and other court proceedings as required
  • Prepare for and assist in trial proceedings, including organizing trial exhibits, preparing witnesses, and handling pretrial filings
  • Take and defend depositions of parties, experts, and third-party witnesses
  • Communicate regularly with clients, opposing counsel, and third parties to keep all stakeholders informed and to negotiate resolutions when appropriate
  • Collaborate with partners and other attorneys to develop case strategy and ensure consistent, high-quality client service
  • Stay current with legal trends and changes in litigation procedures relevant to California state and federal courts
Qualifications:
  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school
  • Active and in good standing with the California State Bar
  • Minimum of 2+ years of experience in litigation defense
  • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage a litigation caseload
