Manufacturing Engineer III to join our team in
Middleton, TN.This role will research, design and develop optimal, cost-effective processes and methods in accordance with specifications and quality standards using LEAN principles. Under minimal supervision apply comprehensive knowledge of a particular field of technical specialization to large projects. Interface with Product Engineering, Logistics, Operations and vendor.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:- Research, design and develop optimal, cost-effective processes and methods in accordance with specifications and quality standards using LEAN principles.
- Support SQDC and participate in Rapid Improvement Events.
- Prepare facility layouts as needed.
- Conduct time studies of production to develop standard work for production cells and to create and maintain SOPs.
- Process Engineering Change Orders (ECO's) for new and improved products.
- Manage large capital projects including writing capital requests and installation of new equipment.
- Develop and maintain SOP's and Standard Work for assigned operations.
- Provide technical support/solutions to the manufacturing processes.
- Drive cost reduction and optimal quality.
- Order tooling and fixtures needed in assigned department.
- Resolve complex quality issues including field complaints, warranty issues and defective parts.
- Monitor quality discrepancies, identify trends and investigate quality problems and implement corrective actions.
- Work with Procurement to conduct make/buy analysis for all new parts.
- Prepare cost estimates for Accounting.
- Perform special projects and other duties as assigned
Who we are looking forEDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: - Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field required
- Masters' Degree in Engineering or related field preferred
- Five to nine years' engineering experience in a manufacturing environment required.
- Experienced in leading project teams required.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication and machining required.
- PMP Certification preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to develop and meet project schedules; along with contingency plans.
- Demonstrated ability to lead others. Responsibility may include direct supervision of technicians and mentoring/leading engineers.
- Demonstrated effective decision making skills are required
- Demonstrated ability to work well with others required.
- Must possess effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Drive continuous improvement efforts within the department.
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite required
- Strong knowledge of AutoCAD and SolidWorks preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of high mix/volume manufacturing methods, procedures and cost-reduction techniques using Lean manufacturing tools: including 6S, Value Stream Mapping, Standard Work, Pull Systems, Cellular Manufacturing and Kaizen events.
