TruBlue of Chicagoland North

Lead Cabinet Painter & Refinisher

Location: Serving customers throughout the North and Northwest Suburbs of Chicago, Illinois

Help Build a Premier Kitchen Cabinet Refinishing Business

TruBlue of Chicagoland North is a locally owned TruBlue Home Service Ally franchise serving homeowners throughout the north and northwest suburbs of Chicago. We provide professional handyman services, home maintenance, and home improvement solutions, including our growing Kitchen Refresh service designed to transform kitchens through professional cabinet refinishing and upgrades without the cost or disruption of a full remodel.

We are hiring an experienced Lead Cabinet Painter & Refinisher to lead cabinet painting and refinishing projects while helping build and improve our Kitchen Refresh division. This is a hands-on leadership role for an experienced cabinet refinishing professional who takes pride in exceptional craftsmanship, works independently, and wants to help develop efficient production processes as the business grows.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead kitchen cabinet painting and refinishing projects from start to finish
  • Remove, label, organize, and reinstall cabinet doors, drawers, and hardware
  • Clean, degrease, sand, and prepare cabinet surfaces for professional finishes
  • Identify cabinet materials and determine proper preparation and coating methods
  • Perform minor cabinet, door, and drawer repairs
  • Apply professional cabinet primers and coatings using airless, HVLP, or similar spray equipment
  • Paint cabinet boxes, face frames, doors, and drawer fronts to achieve smooth, high-quality finishes
  • Protect customers' homes through proper masking, dust control, and jobsite organization
  • Complete final quality inspections and touch-ups
  • Perform additional Kitchen Refresh work, including cabinet hardware installation, trim work, drywall repairs, interior painting, and light demolition as needed
  • Work with the owner to improve production workflows, equipment selection, quality standards, and future technician training

Qualifications

  • Professional experience refinishing or painting kitchen cabinets required
  • Experience using professional cabinet coatings, primers, and spray equipment (HVLP, airless, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of surface preparation, coating adhesion, and finish quality
  • Ability to independently complete professional cabinet refinishing projects
  • Residential painting experience required
  • Strong masking, organization, and jobsite protection skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
  • Professional communication and customer service skills
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation required
  • Must be willing to complete a background check after a conditional offer
  • Must have basic professional painting or cabinet refinishing tools
  • Experience with finish carpentry, cabinet repairs, trim installation, drywall repair, or remodeling is a plus

Pay and Benefits

  • Full-time, W-2 employment
  • Pay: $30.00-$38.00 per hour, based on cabinet refinishing experience
  • Consistent weekday schedule
  • Company-provided technology
  • Investment in professional production equipment, spray systems, and warehouse infrastructure
  • Strong office support and organized scheduling
  • Opportunity for increased leadership responsibility as the Kitchen Refresh division grows
  • Opportunity to help build and eventually lead a specialized cabinet refinishing team

Why TruBlue of Chicagoland North

At TruBlue, we are building a higher standard for home improvement services. Our Kitchen Refresh division provides homeowners with a beautiful, cost-effective alternative to full kitchen remodeling while delivering exceptional craftsmanship and customer care. You'll work directly with the owner to help build a specialized cabinet refinishing operation, influence production processes, and shape the future of a growing business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced refinishing professional who wants more than just another painting job--you'll have the chance to build something lasting while advancing into a leadership role.

To Apply

Please provide a brief overview of your kitchen cabinet painting or refinishing experience, and include a portfolio, photo gallery, or a Google Drive (or similar) link showcasing examples of your completed cabinet refinishing projects. This will help us better evaluate your craftsmanship and finish quality.
